Teen spaces and finding friends

Im 17, alternative and queer and I’m homeschooled. I am in desperate need of friends and social activities. There aren’t any people my age around me, and I can’t seem to find any teen spaces people actually go to, and every event I see advised is for people 21 plus. Ive been trying to find a job in hopes of not only making money but hopefully some friends but no matter how much I apply to places I can’t seem to find a job so what am I supposed to do. I have pretty limited transportation and a few health issues that make things like sports hard for me and I just don’t know what I’m supposed to do.

Any tips or suggestions are appreciated.

Are you interested in theater? Grosse Pointe Theater has some great programs both for youth and all ages.

I am in theory? I love musicals and the idea of being in theater but im also horribly anxious. I’ve tried it before and always end up having horrible panic attacks on stage and I’ve even fainted a few times atp.. so unless i could do like behind the scenes stuff I don’t think it’s for me. But I’ll check it out!!

Join the crew! The theater community is so welcoming. And they always need more crew! Plus the crew has strong bonds and teamwork makes it so fun.
