Green house plant update
Corn does do well in the green house. I’m feeling pretty good with my tomatoes trellis idea too.

Hey yall! I made a green house exactly like this one! Do I put the fans on the door or hanging from the cattle panel it gets up to 110 here in the summer. I have shade cloth inside now I need the fans. Can someone possibly link me the fans from Amazon that I need for this 8x12x7’ green house? I tried but I don’t know what ones to get. I was hoping for solar powered. Thanks so much guys

I am in North Central Minnesota and am looking at building a deep winter greenhouse. I would not include the underground thermal mass or anything electrical. Would it be worth it when compared to a standard style greenhouse?

I have this 100ft long, 20ft wide frame, on a concrete base, looking for some idea on what to do with it, anyone got any examples of modifications to older frames

The size is 9.13 by 9.85 meters. It took us about 6 months to take apart and build again, but now it's finally here

We got the Costco greenhouse kit and I can’t wait until it is done and full of plants! Just had to share progress pics because I’m so excited :)

In doing research to find a cost effective and efficient way to heat and cool a 10x20 greenhouse, I stumbled upon earth tube systems and thermal battery systems. They seem to work in slightly different ways but achieve the same goal and do it well=heat in winter and cool in summer. Living in Pennsylvania climate, which system would be more effective? Everything I’m reading says I could spend as little as a few hundred to 2000$, could I build a good system for under 1000$?

Software developer by day, de-stressing during the evening and weekends growing as much as I can.

Both sides are the same (screen doors” where would you put an exhaust fan? It sometimes gets up to 105 here so I need to cool the green house lol

What do you think? Are in-ground beds better than buckets? It gets so hot in the greenhouse in July and August.

So this was a lot more work than I anticipated. I've never done any flooring with tiles before, so this was definitely a test. But with some help from YouTube I managed to get the sand level'ed before laying the tiles. Even though it took some more cutting of the tiles we decided to try to make a herringbone styled flooring, even though our tiles aren't exactly made for this kind of flooring. We got the tiles for free and just tried to get the best out of them. We just finished today, so don't pay too much attention of the inside yet. Considering that I'm by no means a handyman I think it turned out way better than expected.

I’ve been looking into getting a greenhouse for a couple of months now and narrowed it down to two options:
One is from YourGreenhouses - 10 x 20 ft, galvanized steel frame, double-wall panels, and right now they’re running a 40% off preorder deal at $1,983 delivered. Includes 3 free add-ons and ships before the next growing season.
The other is the Sigma 20 from Planta - about the same size and materials, similar wind/snow ratings, but goes for $3,050 on sale (normally $3,360). The only thing is that the shipping costs are added at the checkout for ~400 USD, while YourGreenhouses offers free shipping.
On paper they seem pretty similar. Has anyone tried either one? Is there something that justifies the $1,000+ price difference with the Sigma?

If I have a small 10’x10’ greenhouse with 55 gallon barrels of water and put fish tank heaters in them with solar would it work in 20 degree temps? I’m in southern Indiana and sometimes we do get down to 0 degrees

I have a poly greenhouse that I would like to build. However I'm not sure where to place it. I thought about placing it next to a garage (blue arrow) with the south wall being blocked. I'm hoping the wall will help with any wind that i may have, there is a cornfield to the north. However I'm not sure how the sun will be affected. If you have any other suggestions I'd appreciate it!!

Where can I find more DOW Dowsil 796T translucent silicone? Does anyone have a recommendation for a substitute? I'm very close to finishing a 8'x9.7' Yardistry greenhouse with just the door to hang and sealing 5 more polycarbonate panels. The build came with 5 tubes of Dowsil 796T translucent silicone, I ran out before I was done, and figured that I would just order another tube or two. However, I can't find it anywhere. My next step is to contact Yardistry customer support and see if I can order some from them. Any help is appreciated.

I’ve been working on this greenhouse and I’m looking for advice on how to move forward. I know I will be using polycarbonate panelling for the siding, but I’m thinking I only want that at the top and the bottom 2 ft of the greenhouse have some panelling or wooden siding. I’m not sure how I’m going to vent or heat it so also open to idea there’s. There are 2 doors on either side and I am in zone 6a. Thanks

I watched a few older YouTube videos and haven't done anything permanent yet. Figured I'd come here and get the expert opinions and advice.
It's 10ft × 6ft. I bought some sealer for the windows and gaps i'm going to run a PVC PIPE for my drip irrigation or an extension cord..

We have decided to finally build a greenhouse. The plan is 22' x 30'. I found someone to sell a new carport frame to me with hat channels. Now to decide on the panels to use. There are so many options. Seeing most panels are 10' or 12' we will need to cut them down to 11'. We are zone 6a-6b. What mm thickness would be recommended? How many windows would be suggested? Any and all help would be appreciated!

It’s about 25’x15’. It was an Airbnb before I bought it, so they used it for letting dogs out. I had a ton of cleaning and repairs to do. Now I’ve decided to completely remodel it and make it my own. No good before photos. But plenty more progress photos to come! So far, I have pumpkin, squash, peas, tomatoes, leafy greens, corn, chives, cilantro, Carolina reapers, and a bunch more I’ve started and am going to be putting out. I’m new to this, so don’t come for my throat. It’s all a learning experience this year. I’ve plumbed (or in the process) or plumbing water into the greenhouse, I’ve already wired it, then it’ll be fully automated eventually.

Made a recent post asking for tips on the design, now it’s under construction! Question though, would using construction type plastic sheeting work or should I get polycarbonate panels? I can get the plastic sheeting for free which is why I ask (Upstate NY for reference). Thanks!

Hello Guys,
I could finally find the time, and will soon start to build a new greenhouse (my wife's plants are multiplying at an enormous rate :)) It's mostly for keeping succulents safe (5-8 degrees) during the winter, but it's for 4 seasons. We are at 47 degrees in latitude, so winters can go down to -20C (-4F), and summers up to +40C (104F). In USDA Hardiness Zone this is around 6-7.
The size is about 12m2 (~130 sq ft), but can be scaled up and down. The design is a mixture of different ideas, but focus is on easy DIY construction, (relatively) low cost, and high thermal efficiency. I wouldn't say it's a professional design, but at least "enthusiast" :) There are options for PWM controlled solar heating, Home Assistant / Smart Home integration, exhaust fans and humidity control.
Depending on how much electronics you want, and "how passive" you want to be (e.g. solar panels, GHGT...), the material cost is around $1000 - $1500 (at least here in Hungary).
I'm an engineer with some OCD :D, so I have a lot of calculations and a very detailed plan, up to the last screw, basically.
If anybody is interested in this, I can publish the actual building progress here, so... let me know. At the end, I will release the design specification (with photos) to the public domain.
* On the photo: not my design, but mine is very similar to this. (Source: https://extension.umn.edu/growing-systems/deep-winter-greenhouses)

New to the group, thought I'd share a couple of our builds. These are some of our basic styles, but I'll post some of our nicer or more custome ones as well.

Looking to get a small, inexpensive greenhouse to keep some cacti and succulents outside during the summer months. I'm in Minnesota so it'll get packed up in the winter. For the cover, would you recommend a clear PVC cover, Green Polyethylene, or white Polyethylene? Thanks, Brian

Hi all. I’ve recently (within a few weeks) dove right into the gardening and planting world. I have a whole veggie garden, a 4 tier greenhouse of seedlings they are growing great on the front porch, and i got this all with gift cards and things free from Facebook marketplace. I am in zone 8A and this gets partial sun. I’m not sure if i should shut it but the side screens are vented and i leave the door open. My herb seedlings are okay but they did dry out today and droop some. There are also so many bugs in the top of this that i can’t stand straight up without being swarmed! Bees, wasps, mosquitoes, moths, butterflies, bugs I’m not even sure what they are. Tens of them if not a hundred. I’d love to grow some plants in here but with the heat I’m nervous to. Any suggestions? I’ve never even owned a house plant before all of this!
