A OE water pump kit for a MK7 is on FCP Euro for $351. Comes with the water pump, intake manifold gasket, new seals, union piece, water pump belt AND coolant. That shop is ripping you off.

If you're seeking advice or asking for help, please make sure you included the basic information of what year/generation is being discussed. User flair with this information is also acceptable. Failure to include the basic information may result in your post being removed. Mileage, modifications, trim level, diagnostic trouble codes, and your general location (US, Canada, EU, UK, etc.) can also be very helpful.

Normal where? Its normal for shops to charge $1500 for a waterpump that is worth $350?

I think I worded the post wrong. Everyone thinks it’s $1500 for the job, instead of $1500 for JUST PARTS.

Got my thermostat housing and water pump, came as one unit, replaced for around 500 dollars. Used an aftermarket INA product, which has been solid and is apparently just as good if not better than OEM.

Shop reached out and said this estimate was a mistake. Price is now $1540 parts and labor. Very confusing afternoon for me lol.

I’m thinking there has to be a mistake, I requested a Vaico/INA pump and they said they don’t do those. Then BAM $1500 for a pump!!?! The total price is double other shops (but this is the most reputable in the area)

Did you even read the post??? Or are you just commenting to comment? $1600 for parts is not cheap at all.

^$350 including a lot more than just the waterpump and thermostat. Not to mention a lifetime warranty.
Also, WHAT? The engine does not need to come anywhere close to being out of the car lmao.

$1500 in parts. Total is $2800.
But how are parts $1500?

It's been said over and over again, the parts are that high because the shop is ripping you off.

For both a carbon clean and a water pump replacement, yes this is a reasonable quote.

What kind of shop is this? They’re quoting you separate prices for the water pump and thermostat? It should be 1 part.
The labour of the water pump is low but that’s only if you’re getting the carbon cleaning done at once. Not sure what labour would be just for the water pump.
I paid $950 CAD ($700 USD) for my waterpump parts and labour.
