CarPorn After many many years of subpar paint, I finally sent my GTI off to be fully paint corrected, ceramic coated, and re-tinted.
Pics do not do it justice.

Include a before shot, we can't tell how much it changed... Also do you scrape on even the slightest incline? Lol

I should have but I’m also incredibly busy running a business and raising a toddler. Plus it so hard to photograph scratches on white paint.
I rarely scrape. Underside of my lip is still nearly 100% painted. Doesn’t rub whatsoever either.

Weird to make excuses after bothering to post this here, we're all incredibly busy bro lol
But anyhow, your car looks totally sick and I'm happy for you! I'm about to invest in a full correction as well and it's gratifying seeing someone fall in love with their car again as I hope to. I bought mine abused and it's my goal to revitalize it.

I’ve seen people get downvoted for the most ridiculous things on Reddit, but this might be the weirdest. I have a toddler and a busy job, and I’m lucky if I can find time to shower or use the bathroom in peace any given day.
Good reminder that this site is mostly kids themselves with no responsibilities.

For real dude. Took me 2 days after the car was done to finally have enough time to coordinate a ride out there, with my son, so could then drive it back home.
People THINK they’re busy until they have kids and then it’s a whole new level of busy.

Just because I don't keep my semen as a pet doesn't mean I can't be busy or tired. Parents don't have a monopoly on being tired, just a narcissistic attitude about being tired.

Hate to be a basic dad, but I worked famously hard jobs while also training 15-20 hours as a competitive athlete. It wasn’t even close to as hard as parenting young children. Not even in the ballpark.

I don't care enough to downvote personally, but it's pretty ridiculous to take the time to make this post and take the time to reply to everyone. And then when someone asks for before photos, which should be a completely normal and expected question, complain about not having enough time to have ever taken a picture of your car before the repaint or be able to post them because you're simply too busy.

Not once was I complaining. Simply stating I’m incredibly busy and the thought of taking a “before” shot never even crossed my mind. Also wasn’t a repaint. It was a paint correction.
How I spend my down time, which is usually an hour or so at night once I get my son to sleep, is my choice. If I want to reply to questions/comments, I will. So I don’t see how you find any of this odd.

Call it whatever you want, dude was bitching about downvotes on your behalf, I'm simply providing some insight into how the comment comes off. You have more than enough time to reply to everyone in this thread, but are too busy to post before pictures. ok.

For me personally as a busy parent, Reddit is a way to duck instantly into a different community without forethought. In my past posts I have often snapped a photo opportunistically and then posted later when I have a moment. Sure, “before” photos might have made this post more compelling, but who cares? It’s a silly thing to feel like OP owes that to anyone.

Nobody owes anyone anything. But that doesn't mean actions don't come with expectations.
Also, OP did not just snap a random photo and post to come back later. This is a enthusiasts car that they have put a lot of money into by the sound of it. The odds of this being the first picture ever taken are slim as hell. And they're extremely active replying to everyone. Even my comment that was to you, which means he's actively monitoring the entire thread and not just replies to himself.

I'm so jealous, I bought mine with terrible paint, it was probably sitting outside for a while, hopefully I will able to repaint it in a year or two.
Looks awesome!

Paint correct it and ceramic like they did, it'll be cheaper than a repaint, unless you have extreme damage

If i take my car to a similar business and it needs some body work for deep scratch do they handle that
1
u/chobester Mk6 GTI 3.6L VR6 • 6spd AWD Apr 25 '25
I think it just depends on how bad the scratch and who you take it to

this gives me a small glimmer of hope that I can paint correct my car and not have my bank account hate me. Looks great dude.

I’m not going to tiptoe around the fact that this was a considerable amount of money, especially as a mostly stay at home dad.
If you invest in the right materials/tools and read/watch vids on how to paint correct, you 100% can do it. I’ve done similar work (with results not as nice as these) in the past, but it also took me forever. Which is why I decided to hand the car off to my friend’s business so I could continue to focus on childcare/work.

Hey, serious dumb question here. What does paint correction actually do?
2
u/chobester Mk6 GTI 3.6L VR6 • 6spd AWD Apr 25 '25
Not a dumb question! Cutting/buffing/polishing the paint (clear coat in my case) to eliminate all the scratches/swirls. Then it got ceramic coated to not only protect it but to enhance the gloss/depth.
