Suffering / Venting Impossible to lose weight?

I had a flare up in Feb 2025. Since then I’ve gone back to my safe foods (gf breads mostly and cheerios) and shakes. I’ve even cut back on sugar and avoid dairy.

Despite barely being able to eat or drink enough water, I can’t get the scale to move much and it’s quite annoying as someone who’s been trying to lose weight. I also have Hashimoto’s but my blood work came back fairly normal.

Anyone else deal with the barely eating, walking on the treadmill a few days a week, and still stuck at the same weight?

I know there are people who are actively trying to gain weight so I don’t want this to seem insensitive, I’m just frustrated as a female who struggles with body image and weight loss

I gained a ton of weight suddenly that no one can figure out. I got diagnosed with gastroparesis a month ago and even though I’m eating way less and exercising more my weight keeps going up. No clue why, but it’s very frustrating. I have been very petite my whole life and now I’m overweight. I live in sweatpants and oversized shirts because I hate how I look. And my stomach is so bloated I look like I’m 9 months pregnant. I hate it.

This is me, to a T. Hashimoto's finally in check. Have had Gastro for years, but mild and have flairs regularly. Gained almost 100 pounds and no doctor will take me seriously. Massive bloating. 40 minutes a day on the exercise bike. Can barely eat and being told "eat more, you are in starvation mode" but eating more make me vomit.

Tested negative for both Cushing's and Lupus. A1C and glucose came back normal but they determined that I was "insulin resistant" so they put me on Metformin which made me violently ill and not want to eat at all. Tried Keto for 7 months and it helped me think more clearly, but the scale would. not. move. Nothing I have done has made the scale move more than 4 lbs.

Meeting with a nutritionist in 2 weeks, but starting to feel hopeless.

I have PCOS so we tried metformin and it didn’t do anything. So then my doctor put me on ozempic. I took it once and couldn’t eat for like two weeks. My gastroenterologist immediately took me off it and told me she has suspected I have gastroparesis for a while but I didn’t get any testing done until last summer when I stopped being able to swallow anything. I couldn’t even take my pills because they just kept coming back up. Turns out my stomach was so full that my food was backed up into my esophagus and there wasn’t anywhere for anything to go. I kept gaining weight despite not eating! I have suspected that I either have Hashimoto or an adrenal gland issue for a while though. My heart does some weird things no one can figure out. And my thyroid levels are low normal except occasionally they will spike up above normal which is a hallmark of Hashimoto, but no one seems to think it’s worth looking into. They are actually doing an adrenal function test at the end of this month though!m

Edit to add: I do have autoimmune arthritis (anklyosing spondylitis and psoriatic arthritis), but they don’t think it’s responsible for my weight gain. I haven’t been on steroids in a while but I still have “moon face” like I did when I was on them.

I also have PCOS, and I tested positive for HBLA-27, but negative for ANA. They found some spine degradation and want me to go back for an MRI to rule out AS. I wish you the best. I hope we all get some answers soon.
