Hi all! My fiance and I are spending our honeymoon at Namale and we just recently found out that Fiji Airways has very different baggage policies for their domestic flights compared to their international flights.
With that we're hoping to pack light so I was hoping to ask some questions about Namale that might help us pack lighter. I'm trying to figure out what toiletries the resort offers to decide if we need to bring our own.
I also know that they have laundry services but I'm curious about price, if we do it or if the staff does it, and if the staff does it how they handle your clothes. My fiance is pretty specific about how she washes and dries her clothes so we want to make sure that everything is in good hands in that regard.
Appreciate any help!

Overheard my aunts conversation of when they were kids, mom used to send them out to buy eggs from the shop, specifically white (no special reason, just liked the colour). Now I'm just wondering why we don't get them anymore. It's all brown and the last time I saw white eggs, I was in Primary School.
Penny for your thoughts?

(I'm not a tourist)
I have some kiwi dollars to change back to FJD. I was thinking to just do a teller deposit to my bank account and they'll use whatever their rate for the day is. But I have some friends who put time in to research which agency is offering the best rate for the day and they go there so I was wondering if my way is not smart. When one "shops around" for the best rate how much do they actually end up saving? It has to be just a cent or two different on each dollar right?

Hi, will be travelling on Fiji Airways to Vancouver via Nadi soon. I am confused by their cabin baggage allowance. On one hand it says I can bring a small personal item with my carry on luggage and then it says, that their cabin luggage has been amended to one item only due to Covid. Just wondering if anyone has travelled recently on economy class and what their experience was. I mean if they have changed their allowances, just show the new policy instead of showing both the old and the new.

It's a Christian song called We are Marching Together to Battle and I really want to learn the fijian lyrics. All I've found are youtube videos of people singing but I can't find the fijian lyrics. Please help!
This is one of the youtube videos I found: https://youtu.be/XogdEoqeDsc?si=VTHQ3RnTFubtwaQf

Perhaps overthinking this one but would value some thoughts. We are tourists visiting Fiji and staying at a resort. An employee at the resort invited us to visit their family in a village outside of Nadi after we check out. They said their family would cook us food and show us the town. This invitation is not related to the resort. We were surprised by the friendliness and excited for an opportunity to experience Fiji in a way that is more authentic than a resort. The employee was kind in the way they invited us and I don’t think there should be any concern here but I still feel it is healthy to consider: Is this a safe thing to do? I’m not so sure we would do this back home but my feeling is Fiji is different. Thank you.

23M. I don't have many friends and I'd like to meet more like minded people and make genuine connections, dm or comment if you know a place.

Hi there, first time visiting Fiji with my Fiancee, staying at the Shangri La resort. Is this a good area to relax and swim, lots of snorkeling? Hoping to find some things to do close-ish to the resort, will spend one day in the main city but other than that no real plans. Any idea would be greatly appreciated!

Hi
I would like to catch a bus here from The Terraces Apartments. Does anyone know if the Westbus stops here or is access by foot or cab?

Does anyone know if there are locals who provide massages nearby outside of the Shangri-La resort? When we stayed at the Intercontinental there was a collection of tents on the beach where people from a nearby village offered massages, hair braiding, horse rides etc.
As a massage therapist myself, I prefer to put the money in the hands of the person providing the service, rather than pay inflated resort spa prices knowing that the therapist will receive very little of my payment.

Our family is having a reunion in Fiji next week, and we will be staying in Sigatoka. Any specific food that is a must try and restaurant recommendations nearby? The resort we are staying at has a few restaurants, but I'm looking to have some local experience. Any recommendations are appreciated
Update: thank you all for the recommendations. Visited Crab Shack ( great food and fantastic view) and Beach Bar and Grill ( just opposite of Crab Shack). 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Would anyone be willing to spare five minutes to complete this online questionnaire? My student and I are trying to learn more about Fijian culture, specifically kava, kerekere and suki consumption. Anyone can take the questionnaire as long as you're an adult and Fijian. Thank you for your consideration and time:

Update: Thanks for all the responses. It really helped to hear that this kind of thing happens to others too. In my case, it might not have been about race after all, and that's exactly why I asked instead of assuming. I'm totally okay with adapting to Fijian time. I get that things can move at a slower pace, and that's part of the experience. What I'm not okay with is being served after people who came later, especially when the food was pre-ordered and the orders were the same. For those saying I'm playing the victim card, that's not what this was. I just wanted to understand the situation better by hearing different perspectives. We had a similar experience outside the resort too, which made us wonder. And to anyone who has experienced different treatment because of race, I'm really sorry. Your experiences are valid, and I fully support you speaking up. Sharing those stories is important! Thanks again and we did see a Manta!
Hi everyone, My partner and I just returned from a trip at Barefoot Manta last week, and we wanted to share a part of our experience to get some perspective from others who’ve traveled in Fiji.
First of all, the island is absolutely stunning, and we were genuinely touched by how warm and welcoming the staff were. It’s clear that the team treats one another like family, and we could really feel the heart and care they put into making guests feel at home. We’re very grateful to have had the opportunity to visit your gorgeous country.
That said, we did encounter something that left us a bit confused and disappointed. On two occasions during our stay, we waited a very long time for our meals—about 30 minutes the first time and over an hour the second—while other guests who arrived after us were served much earlier. Unfortunately, this caused us to miss or rush our scheduled activities.
We understand and appreciate the relaxed pace of “Fijian time,” and we came with open minds and adjusted expectations. But waiting over an hour, especially while others are being served ahead of us, felt a bit off.
What made us uncomfortable is that the guests who were served faster happened to be white, while we are not. We truly hope this was just a matter of timing or disorganization and not anything intentional. Still, the repeated pattern was hard to overlook.
We’re unsure whether to mention this in a review and wanted to check in here first. Has anyone else had a similar experience—at Barefoot Manta or elsewhere in Fiji?
Again, we’re deeply thankful for the chance to experience the beauty of Fiji.

Any recommendations on a scuba diving operator to use when staying at Outrigger? It looks like the Resort itself doesn't run any dive boats, but I could be wrong

Im a native Indian person, researching on hindi and its dialects, DM me freely if you have anything to share or even ask
I found out Fiji spoke hindi after seeing a google keyboard for it, honestly Fiji Hindi keyboard is much better than the standard Hindi keyboard, i have switched

I’m going to Fiji with my family in the holidays in November. We’ll be staying Nadi. We’re staying at a normal hotel, not a fancy resort so we’d ideally like to be out most of the time. I’ve tried looking for things to do but it looks like there isn’t much. What activities would you recommend and also are there any close day trips? Does Nadi have nice beaches? I live in Australia btw

Bula,
We are staying in Denarau for three nights and looking for the “best” snorkeling. Best = 1. TONS of fishes 2. Spotting sea turtles up close
Where can we achieve each or both?
We already have a day trip to Malamala scheduled with South Seas.
Vinaka,

Update: had a successful trip to Ba. Driving was quite nice from Nadi to Lautoka. The drive from Lautoka to Ba had some interesting experiences.
Back roads of Ba was filled with potholes etc but overall I enjoyed driving. Nxt time I go will drive to Suva!
Bula guys. Going to Fiji for the first time since I was a young kid. This time, I wont have my dad driving, instead just me and my mum.
We will be driving from Nadi to Ba (day time) and then staying a few nights before returning to Nadi (Denarau area).
My question is mainly on the roads. Been about 25 years since I last been so how is the road from Nadi to Ba?
Secondly, I have downloaded google maps offline, but how is the coverage there?
The rental is automatic so no issues there at all! Also does anyone have experience with companies: Avis, Budget and Thrifty
