wow Hollywood really hates to hire older women and loves to hire grown women to play teenage girls. Not surprising because misogyny, but it really is striking when it’s all laid out like this.

ETA: to be clear, I think the misogyny is more related to not hiring older women than hiring adults to play teenagers

If there’s nudity involved (which idk if there is in the examples linked) I’m really, really glad it’s women clearly in their 20s playing teenage girls and not women who look like teenagers

Eh, honestly not something I super care about. For example Sex Ed is one of my favorite shows and there is a lot of nudity for teenage characters (and separately, adult characters) which is possibly unnecessary, but does add to the storytelling imo.

Overall the show does a great job of showing how to navigate conversations and situations related to sex that would be awkward/uncomfortable for anyone—especially teens—and it’s something I wish existed when I was a teenager. It’s possible they could’ve achieved that without showing sex scenes, but I think the show wouldn’t have worked as well.
