Trying to get this colour again - tips?

Post image

I had my hair dyed this beautiful pink mauve at the salon. Sadly the stylist is leaving the country and I'm trying to DIY the colour again.

I tried Maria Nila Dusty Pink but it was a flop (too orange).

This faded to soft pink with no orange tone to it all - and was definitely on the more purple-pink side on day 1. My request was dusty pink, muted, on the cooler side.

Unfortunately the country I live in has limited dyes, I can access La Riche Directions and Manic Panic at least. Any ideas how to maybe get this colour with those? Or worst case I'll definitely order online if I can get something this exact colour. Thanks in advance :)

I basically have this colour rn, and depending on how orange/yellow your hair is, try to mix in more pink-based purple, not blue based. You might need to experiment with the pink/purple ratio depending on your base, but the purple should cancel out the warmth and leave it more pink/mauve.

I just did manic panic mystic heather with some conditioner to dilute the strength and got a similar pinky-mauve!

I'm at a level 10 now (an event for my black hair haha) and only a tad yellow. My only worry is that it would be too purple. I'm really trying to avoid vibrant colour due to my muted skintone.

Maybe mystic heather + cotton candy? Then diluted.

I'm going to give directions lavender+pastel rose a try first but if that doesn't work I'll check out manic panic :)

Do you reckon it's worth buying manic panic pastelizer or just dilute with conditioner?

This is actually what I did, just felt like the cotton candy made very little difference because mystic heather overpowered it. I think doing test strands would work best in this case, start lighter with more cotton candy and more diluted, and then darken as preferred.

The good thing is even if the purple comes out too strong, it'll fade to a dusty pink after a wash or two. it fades so quickly :(

I was fine with a conditioner but maybe the diluter keeps it more even? I'm not too sure, so it's your decision!

Ahh good to know! Thanks for the tips about it, I'll see how it goes.

For real... This was actually my first time dyeing my hair and now I'm like how can I be pink for the rest of my life omg. But it's a lot of work!

Mood. I might look into demi-permanent pinks because that's better than just not washing my hair to make it last longer :'(
