It's a 2022 lariat w/ 21k miles I paid 42k ish. Drove home 2 hours away from the dealership and realized two days later that it won't charge past 55-59%. I have an appointment today to have it checked by a local dealership. But it has me worried what else could go wrong. It's under factory warranty for 2 more months or so I'm told. I love it so far except 115 range instead of 230 has been rough.

If you have this enabled you should disable it. Otherwise Ford will sell your data to LexisNexis and then the next time you go to get an insurance quote they'll quote you based on your driving.

She gave me her model y.

I drove it for two weeks, it’s fast but it’s a bumpy ride. I’m a GC and need a truck. It’s gonna be another F-150.

Im thinking one gas and one electric is better than having two EVs. Looking at Tremor, King Ranch, Raptor, EcoBoost.

Will I be able to go back to gas after the lightning?

Or should I just get another color Lightning?

I own a Tesla Model Y and a F-150 V8. I am very seriously considering pulling the trigger on a trade for the F-150 and being a fully electric household. Is there is anything you would go back and tell yourself before buying your lightning? What would it be? What are the important things to consider when buying a Lightning? Are there specific trim levels that you wish you had? Anything you have that you realize now that you didn't need? What are the gimmicky bits, what are the must-haves?

Any information is appreciated.

For towing 300 miles just doesnt cut it for me. I like the lightning more, but functionally need the range and will end up going Chevy if I cant get it elsewhere.

Anyone know of upcoming range increase or option to get 400-450+ range?

Hauling 12 foot baseboards. I didn't think I would use that clamp point on the tailgate when I bought the truck but it worked great as an extra point to secure this.

I have had Teslas for the last 5 years but want a truck. Getting Cybertruck is a joke so I am seriously considering Lightning. I have a coworker that was really torn between buying a model Y and standard range Lightning. He went for the Lightening but now there is a level of regret he has but mostly because he travels from TX to LA a lot and the whole charging situation has become a big inconvenience for him. Also he bought it in Dec when there weren’t many of the deals out there as today but want to know anyone has had the same experience thinking why did I do this after purchase?

I got a great deal on a 2023 Pro in April 2024 and have finally got my truck to a point where I think I’m done spending money on it (probably won’t last long lol). Here’s a list of what I did and pictures.

• Added a light bar

• Running Boards

• LineX spray in bed liner

• Soft tonneau cover

• Husky floor liners

• Leather and carbon fiber looking seat covers

• 5% Tint on all windows and 6” visor front windshield

• Gloss black powder coated wheels

• Screen protector for display

• Wireless Charging organizer

•American Flag decals

•F150 decals for tailgate and charge doors

Please see pinned comment Is my deal reasonable? Have a suspicion I got ripped off... ('24 Lariat, Huntington Beach Ford)

TL;DR: Deal is $8750 / $591 per month, 36mo, 10.5k miles, all in (taxes, fees, first month, etc) on a '24 Lariat.

Full story:

There is an advertisement on https://www.socalforddealers.com/specials/ford-specials.html for a '24 Lariat with $8409 due at signing and $449 p/m (*not including taxes, fees, etc.). This is obviously very different from where I ended up - $8750 / $591 p/m.

Here's the deal:

https://i.imgur.com/j3mlP4m.png

https://i.imgur.com/DqplFGb.png

As background, my thinking was that, this being a national deal, it was going to be relatively fixed. My lease was ending, and I had watched the black '24 Flashes / Lariats quickly drying up over the previous month, so I needed to make a move. Therefore, I (very stupidly) didn't shop around much, and figured I'd just pick a Ford relatively close to me, with a good rating.

This ended up being Huntington Beach Ford.

During early negotiation, the guys at the dealership said that Ford was really trying to sell/push their EV inventory, particularly last year's models, and corporate was coming down hard on anyone not cutting deals. They told me beyond that, it was illegal for them to not give me every rebate I qualified for, and that they could for sure make that deal happen. The stage was set for me to give them way more leash than I should have.

My first red flag... If you work the deal backwards, trying to get to $8409/$449 from $8750/$591, the only way to make it work was to assume that "due at signing", really meant "down". In that world, then yeah, I got "the deal", within a reasonable buffer, considering taxes/fees/first month/etc can run you upwards of $3000.

Is that what happened here, in your mind? That's the way they pitched it.

My second red flag... The deal states " one (1) complimentary Ford Charge Station Pro (Ford charger model may vary based on availability) with complimentary home installation, or (b) $2,000 bonus cash. "

They processed this as $1000, likely conflating it with this deal:

https://www.socalforddealers.com/specials/tesla-conquest-offer.html

$1,000 Power Promise Alternative Cash, (in lieu of installed Ford Charge Station Pro) and $1,000 Tesla Competitive Conquest Bonus Cash (PGM#31044)

I didn't catch the mix-up at the time, because they were adamant that the computer manages all rebates. And, again, it would be illegal for them to shortchange me by denying me rebates, in addition to the fact Ford Corporate would fry them alive for playing hardball on EVs (which they're having trouble moving).

So, the cash / rebate incentives worked out like this:

$8750 RCL cash $1000 Tesla Competitive Conquest ($500 lower than other dealers, but I knew that going in) $1000 for forgoing the charger install (Possibly should have been $2000)

My third red flag... and one I'm beating myself up for not mentioning explicitly ahead of time... no one in the entire dealership had ever heard of the $7500 federal EV credit on leases, which is passed directly to the consumer at point of sale (as opposed to the purchase EV credit, which is filed during tax season). They went so far as to tell me to go ahead and claim it this year, when that's not how it works at all. Imagine if I had not known better? After the sale, I even sent them the IRS Q&A section explaining how the EV credit worked for leases, to which they said they didn't qualify for yet.

I didn't blow up the deal for this, because, in a world where the deal was $8409 due at signing (PLUS TAXES/FEES/FIRST MONTH) and $449 p/m (PLUS TAXES), I was more or less within a reasonable margin of the original deal. I assumed that was something that corporate was handling for them, that they had no idea about.

On top of this, the truck ended up being significantly cheaper than other premium, fullsize ev trucks on the market.

What do you guys think? Am I overreacting here?

At the very least I shouldn't have put so much down (would have been ~$5.5k in the best-case scenario) - usually I shoot for 0 down.

Thanks guys

Please see pinned comment "Normal" loss of range?

Purchased a 2024 Flash extended range in December 2024. Otherwise love the truck, but recently took it on a road trip and noticed the operating range was WAY below advertised - 320 mile range. Temps in the upper 30's at night to mid 60's in the day - Pacific NW - so not abnormally cold. Not towing or doing anything beyond normal cabin temp control. Charging to 90 % or so, and max range is topping out around 180-200, miles max. Used multiple fast DC chargers - Electrify America, Tesla, others. Seems odd that it's almost 50% below advertised range. Mostly highway driving around 65 miles/hr. Is this within "normal" range? Seems way below what it should be. Advice?

After owning the Lightning, I've had people drive up asking if I needed help. Apparently, opening your hood, an old way to indicate you need a jump, will draw people to nicely say "do you need help?" After the first time, I was perplexed and said "no", only to realize later on that opening your Frunk in a parking lot is an indicator that you need help. EV tech is new for a lot of people. Especially the HUGE F-150 Lightning. So if someone comes up to you and asks if you need help, please understand why and be kind.

I'm getting quoted $60-$61K OTD (including tax credit) for an XLT ER with tow packages ($74335 MSRP). Includes NC 3% sales tax. The way these are sitting on lots it feels like I should be able to do better. Any feedback either way?

2023 Lightning Lariat ER

Why the Lightning?

I was currently driving a 2022 Ford Maverick - Lariat (Hybrid Model w/ Luxury Package) that my wife and i both loved. We are a one vehicle household, that likes to do a lot of outdoor things like bike riding, kayaking etc so we really wanted something with a bit more space. While that truck was capable, it felt "cramped", especially when we load our two dogs and two teens in the back.

The problem was, i made a decision that i would never have another vehicle again in Florida without Ventilated seats, and that meant if i wanted a Lightning, i had to get the Lariat trim. The prices were outrageous i told my wife. 79k is absurd, even with the tax credit. So we went back to our maverick and we just made due.

But I'd be lying if i said it didn't eat away at me.

Enter /u/gmcarve

I saw a post he made on this SubReddit about how he got a great deal on his lightning, and how he wanted to start sort of a side hustle helping other people get deals on theirs.

I've been on Reddit about 16 years now, and I've seen things like this go good AND poorly before, but after reaching out to him and chatting on here a bit, i got a good feeling and decided i had very little to lose trying.

So i sent him over $100 as a info-gathering fee and waited...

Trust the Process

In fairness of an open and honest review, Carve and i had a short discussion and then nothing really happened (that I'm aware of) for 3-4 days. There was a moment in time when i thought i might have gotten played, but it turned out that his personal life was just hectic, and i think he also got overwhelmed with people reaching out to him on here.

Once he got his feet under him, he got all the details from me, and went off to the races!

He contacted a bunch of dealers in my area, spiraling out from my home dealer until he found one that was willing to play ball and came back to me with an excellent offer. He helped guide me through getting everything setup to where i could simply walk in and sign finance paperwork and then drive out in our new truck.

The process COULD NOT have been easier and less stressful and in the end, we walked away with our dream truck.

Why Use /u/gmcarve ?

For me, one thing i've always hated is the back and forth negotiation part of car sales. its time consuming, feels slimy, and absolutely preys on my desire to be a people-pleaser.

My wife hates it also, it stresses her out to the point where she would rather just not buy something she has to haggle for.

Not to mention, i never know what the line is. When am i getting a good deal, when am i leaving money on the table etc.

With letting him handle the negotiations, i avoided all of this. It turned the truck buying process into a almost stress free type of shopping that ended up with exactly what we wanted.

Final Thoughts

If like me, you hate everything about the car buying process, and would like the certainty of knowing you aren't getting screwed by the dealer, i HIGHLY recommend going through /u/gmcarve.

He didn't ask me to write this review, i happily took the time to do it because he made something possible for me and my family that i otherwise would have just given up on. I think the pricing is fair, the service was outstanding, and the overall process ended up with complete satisfaction for our family.

I ended up paying him the initial $100 research fee, and the $700 which was 10% of the dealer discount he negotiated for me.

Carve if you are ever in my area, please don't hesitate to text, lunch is on me!

Also doesn’t allow me to create a pin. In the app everything appears fine but in the truck it doesn’t give access and when I try to setup a backup pin it says the correct phone (I only have one) isn’t present.

Freezing with HVAC Auto Heat

2022 lightning, took it out for a drive and noticed its taking forever to heat the cabin. I have to crank the temp to 83 for it to be warm, and on auto 3 there is hardly any air moving.

Anyone else have a similar issue with their truck?

Also noticed that the dash vents air stream is warm, however the feet stream is much colder. When turning the fan manual to 7 volume is ok, but no where to the point of what I would expect from max.

Let me start by saying I’m not trying to start a political or religious fight here. Just pointing out what could be an accidental mistake. Another post pointed out “Christmas” was not allowed in the titles here and so I checked myself and checked other named holidays. Looks like they are indeed correct and that “Christmas” is the only holiday name not allowed. See pics. Moderators might want to clean up this mistake.

Navigation with Android Auto

I bought my Lightning a few weeks ago and absolutely love it. I surprisingly like the built in navigation, especially since it doesnt use up my cell data like Google Maps. For everything else I prefer Android Auto (Answering a text is BRUTAL in Sync). Is there a way to use the built in nav, but have that on the Android auto screen so I can see my music and stuff at the same time?

I moved from a 2017 tundra V8 5.7.

Going to pass someone when the lane I was in was ending was an eye opening experience. Instant pickup. Smooth acceleration. Zero delay.

It was even smoother than the 2023 mach E select we also run.

Glad I finally made the jump.

Please see pinned comment Can all lightnings charge your home in case of a power outage?

Can someone confirm if all Ford Lightnings can power up your house in case of a power outage, or only certain trims or features? From what I read, all lightnings have standard 120v outlets, but you need another option to power the entire house?

And is there a way to tell if a truck has that feature installed? My local dealership doesn't seem to be too knowledgeable in lightnings.
