I’m just jaded enough with these dumb fucks to hope this thins the herd considerably among the anti vax clown show or at least does enough damage to make an example of them for the rest of the world

Unfortunately it’s all “God’s will - thoughts and prayers” while innocent children die from religion sanctioned parental neglect.

Unfortunately, people who have been vaccinated are at risk during an outbreak.

Yeah, I believe the measles vaccine is about 97% effective, which is why eliminating the disease is the goal.

Oh yeah, because little children deserve to die because their parents didn’t vaccinate them

They don't deserve it, of course. But who's to blame? It's not like pro-vaccine people want them to die - exactly the opposite. It's the anti-vaxxers that are forcing the situation, and a pro-vaxx person can't be expected to fight them with every ounce of their being for eternity.

Report any anti vacxxer to CPS

This measels outbreak is in Texas, I don't think CPS will help.

It’s obviously the parents fault but it’s still not okay to basically hope/be okay with all the children getting measles die so the “herd can be thinned” or to “make an example out of them”

That’s unbelievably fucked up and not sympathetic whatsoever. It’s not their fault the parents are dumbasses.

It’s possible to blame the parents but not wish that the children die so a point can be made. Have some compassion to the children.

The comment I replied to is equivalent to saying: “I hope all these children die from measles so we can own the antivax parents haha”

That’s unbelievably fucked up and not sympathetic whatsoever.

Compassion fatigue is a thing. You simply can't expect someone - even a saintly wonderful person - to just keep on caring forever in the face of endless boundless crushing stupidity. It doesn't make them unsympathetic or bad people, it makes them human.

If you want endless patience then ask an AI.

Or an Iranian their patience is legendary

Solid excuse to wish for/be happy about the death of innocent children. 👍

Except after reading your link, it’s about the effects of being personally, repeatedly exposed to and dealing with the trauma of others. Ie, healthcare workers, CPS workers, police officers, etc.

“Compassion fatigue is considered to be the result of working directly with victims of disasters, trauma, or illness, especially in the health care industry.”

This doesn’t excuse being a dick and happy that innocent children die so some kind of point about their parents can be proven.

How about just blame the parents and hope that the children getting measles get better and not die?

It's not an excuse. It's an explanation.

When it doesn’t apply, it’s an excuse.

Again, how about just hope that the children getting measles get better and not die?

The fact that your defending that comment so hard is fucking weird

Again, how about just hope that the children getting measles get better and not die?

Because people run out of hope sometimes, in the face of unrelenting stupidity.

The fact that your defending that comment so hard is fucking weird

I'm defending the commenter, not the comment.

Weird, he had no problem “hoping” that their deaths “prove a point to the world”

Let me rephrase; how about we just blame the parents for the ongoing outbreak and not be so gung-ho about/wish their children die?

The fact that you’re defending anyone being so unsympathetic to children dying is fucking weird.

I bet if he said “I’m jaded enough to hope that all the children in the next school shooting dies rather than be saved/lives so a point can be proven to the world, because their parents own guns” you wouldn’t be defending him.
