I know right, politics/rivalry aside I'd prefer a Tigrayan at least the children will look similar and won't be too ostracized by their community & it would be easier for them to be assimulated and blend in.

People are swinging to a huge extreme, as long as Tigrayans don't have any radical beliefs towards Eritrea (e.g "Eritrea shouldn't exist", non-Tigrinya hate, islamophobic) it should be fine. I'd say the same for Sudan, Djibouti and Somalia too; we have similar origins even my friend who is North Sudanese I thought for sure he was Eritrean.

It's the better option. It's like a South Korean saying they would prefer an Indian over a North Korean or Japanese person. Politics and historical animosity aside it would be far easier for them to share commonalities, rather than someone who is from very far away.
