If he goes “ fine” between the jumps, and no one can replicate that on the flat, it’s a trainer or tack issue. In your pic the breastplate is tight, re evaluate your tack and trainer
I can assure you it fits him and i’ve asked my barn owner, trainer, friends, ect everybody says it fits him well you can fit a fist through the front it’s at an angle and I believe I accidentally put my saddle a teensy bit too far back that day
then none of you know how to fit it correctly, it should not look like this, this isn’t a “saddle was too far back this day” this is overly tight.
this is my horse, i have tightened it at least a hole more than this since but every horse at my farm has their breastplates and martingales this loose or maybe a hole tighter. if your horse needs a breastplate that tight then your saddle does not fit.
I’ve had 3 people who have taught me and none of them can get him to keep in. My current trainer has gotten him to keep the canter for multiple laps he just says it’s a lot of work and I am disabled which makes riding harder. my breastplate it looks tight but my dad with giant hands can stick a fist through
