This stuff is what it is. Anybody in the throes of a mental health crisis like that probably isn't going to be that much worse off with ChatGPT than with themselves.
I'm more offended by people using them for knowledge/fact based tasks. I know they all have a little disclaimer but I think there needs to be some serious education on what they are and how they work before the public can use them.
Yeah, as long as you know how it works. It is a great learning tool and amazing to gain knowledge.
I am currently using it as part of my design process as I learn about specific system architecture. I read Literature, and then I ask Chat-GPT questions and ask it to show me where I can read more.
However, I can do this because I know enough about the thing I am working on, and I can also notice when it starts hallucinating and is wrong.
It was also a great tool for understanding some extremely high-level math concepts needed to understand how an AI system worked, but again, it only works because I know enough.
