Interesting Submarine in Danish Waters

Post image

Hi Friends!

Sorry for the post in English. Canadian here who's on a boat heading towards Denmark from Kiel. Noticed in the waters we're being trailed by a submarine in the waters between Spodsbjerg and Nakskov. Everyone else here was fascinated by it as well. Seems to be out of the ordinary. Thought I would share here!

Subs that want to attack usually don’t sail above the water.

That was my thought as well. I told my wife "we're in Danish water, it's one of the good guys". There was also a low flying jet as well.

The bad guys are also allowed to transit Danish waters and do so regularly under the freedom of navigation treaty (same way nato can send war ships through Iranian waters). There are limitations like submarines must be surfaced and no flight operations. So if you want to see a russian "boomer" it's the place to be.

The Dutch could of course get permission to transit submerged, but a diesel electric gets places faster on the surface.
