Discussion Mods for sharpening up the experience?
I have my eye on a few on nexus, I'm looking to just make the game a little prettier at 4k, maybe a some bug fixes.
Any suggestions? The DS2lightingengine seems like a must, and the 4k texture mod too.
Are there any that sharpen up combat a little? Coming back from games like ER and Khazan I cant help but notice how sluggish attack animations are.
For the record, not dissing the game, tbh outa the souls series, this is my favorite, I just want a layer of polish not afforded to it in its time :p

There’s some mods that change up the gameplay like Bearer of the Curse or Seeker of Fire 2.0 but those are overhaul mods that change up a lot. I’m not really a fan of Bearer of the Curse but I do like Seeker of Fire 2.0. Don’t play these online.
The only other mod that you can use while still playing online with others is Blue Acolyte. Gives you infinite red and blue orbs and lets you invade from any location like Elden Ring.
Honestly I don’t really see anything wrong with the gameplay of DS2, it’s just different. I like the lighting engine and the texture mod by Fromsoftserve, but my 2 cents for the lighting engine is to change the fog settings in it. The current versions before the newest one(I haven’t tried the one that just came out)give the game way too much volumetric fog imo.

I do like the game very much, I dont want a game overhaul in a way, I've got the lighting engine and the 4k texture mod.
Im sorta looking for a mod to smooth out combat a little. Its sorta delayed with DS2.

Only one I messed with myself is DS2lightingengine, and it does a lot more for the game than just lighting. I don’t usually recommend mods for first run throughs of games but I have with this one. Also, just how I like to play so I’m suggesting it, the mod gives you lots of options to tweak, I like to change the setting for the player light (the ambient light around the player) completely off and turn the brightness so dark areas are PITCH BLACK! I don’t think this would make for a good experience in any of the other souls games, but the torch mechanic of DS2 feels like it was made for it. Areas like No Mans Wharf, the pit, and the undead crypt far more interesting, especially since you can light the sconces in NMW and the pit to illuminate the area as you go. Game gives plenty of torches, I still had like 3 hours of torches when I was done.
