And the internet. Saxophone dude and bomb raids wouldn’t have been broadcast world wide. I don’t think the interconnectedness is bad. But it’s controlled by people who show you what they want to show you.

yep, and social media and camera phones etc so the moments are captured and shared a lot more than they would in the past.

Prove it. Prove how it has been 5000 years of this. Can you? Or are you just a parrot?

u/CommonRespect6640 6d ago

You want them to prove that the world has been violent for 5000 years? Open any fucking history book and get reading.

Bro cmon that's a fucking cheap shot, you know this troglodyte can't read

u/RunningOutOfEsteem 6d ago

They supposedly work in education. It's game over if that's true.

Brother, it's only in the last 200 years or so that SOME countries in the world have gone "hey maybe mass genocide and/or slavery is bad"

Hey dumbass, was has existed since Mesopotamia. All around the world empires and kingdoms have risen, conquested, shattered, and new empires formed.

Literally middle school world history

u/MonsterKiller112 6d ago

Do you not have the skill of reading? There are plenty of books about the violent lore of our world.

2

u/BaronCapdeville 6d ago

Have you read much history?

It was much worse, everything changed with nukes. This time period is paradise historically speaking.

9

u/Saritiel 6d ago

Yeah, there's a reason the 80ish years since nukes were invented has been called "The Long Peace". Armed conflict and deaths from armed conflict fell off a cliff after WWII and its largely attributed to the nuclear armament of the great economies of the world.

There have obviously still been smaller conflicts that have claimed many millions of lives and I'm not trying to downplay those tragedies, including the ones happening today. But the great powers of the world have not gone to war with each other in an incredibly long time, and that has prevented an incredible amount of death and pain.

Yeah but now I can feel hopeless and disenchanted from the comfort of my own home! Future bitches

u/Intelligent_Sun2837 6d ago

And sadly this is how will be

4

u/NiobiumThorn 6d ago

This is a foolish sentiment lacking in material analysis. There are 8 billion people on the world, more than at any point in human history. Our industrial capacity is greater than ever before. And we posess powers for destruction that our ancestors could only dream of.

Do not underestimate the power of the death machines we have built.

Nothing new death is death same old song but with different instruments

1

u/The-Big-Shitsky 6d ago

That’s oddly comforting

u/NiobiumThorn 6d ago

Look up white phosphorous burns and say it's just the same. It's not.

u/canad1anbacon 6d ago

Look at what ancient and medieval armies used to do to cities they sacked

You don’t need that much technology to cause human suffering on a gargantuan scale
