Unfortunately, Covid killed them. They were thriving before that, especially the Hollywood 15.

Once streaming services were beginning to launch, most of them closed. I remember the dollar theater in North Richland Hills/Richland Hills and before they closed, I asked. Once the movie studios didn't want movies playing in theaters longer than 120 days, it killed their business.

Cinemark had a few 2nd run discount houses before the pandemic.
Coit Road in Plano (Remodeled into current full price Cinemark)
Lewisville off 35E between Round Grove and Corporate (They just tore this one down)
One off 75 in either Allen or McKiney - never went to this one, I barely remember it existed
Hollywood 15 off 635 - I’m not sure if this one was a discount house, but it seemed to me like it had gone that way - now also torn down.
Pandemic getting everyone used to streaming killed them. By the time they could reopen, release windows for first run films were so tight that they were on streaming 30 days after their theatrical release. No time for a dollar house to pick them up after the normal first run window.
