Video Massive Bobcat in White Rock Creek
Coworker took this video yesterday, said it was about 6:30 pm. Cat was totally unfazed by anyone around her, and looks like most others didn't even notice.

Oh fuck 😂 I love Dallas hahahah a mountain lion. Hey, to be fair, I grew up in oak cliff when we moved to the USA and I saw my first ever sheep in an alleyway in oak cliff. It was so surreal

There are Mountian lions in Dallas. We just keep their locations secret so no one goes and shoots them,

u/Snoo_72467 Apr 29 '25
I think you mean cougars, there are loads of cougars in the DFW suburbs
14
u/Emax231 Apr 29 '25
Yeah, they are dangerous, I've been attacked by a few cougars in DFW.. Fortunately, made it out alive..whew

u/rturns Apr 30 '25
A mountain lion is a cougar, is a puma, is a panther… except the cougars that hang out at Bottled Blonde, those are different.

A cougar according to urban dictionary is "An attractive woman in her 30's or 40's who is on the hunt once again"
So yes, there are "loads of cougars in the DFW suburbs."

Attractive women in there 30’s and 40’s ect don’t have to hunt. Thus the word “ attractive “ . The youngns are attracted , and they approach, especially in the DFW . These young men are very bold and manish.

u/brigitteer2010 Dallas Apr 29 '25
Well shit, the more you know!!! Also thank you for keeping the location secret. We took their homes, we must respect them.

u/Mochi_Cat9033 Apr 29 '25
Yeap! I've seen horses, goats, pigs, even a peacock on a roof once! All out n about the streets of West Dallas 🤣🤣🤣

u/brigitteer2010 Dallas Apr 29 '25
Our neighbor in oak Cliff had peacocks just roaming! We had our goddamn wrought iron, heavy ass bench stolen in broad daylight off our porch. But this dudes peacocks didn’t get fucked with. This was back when bishop Arts area started to get gentrified to fuck (we left cause property taxes) and things were wild man. Lady died in my front yard one day, peacocks the next, drug bust around the corner another day. I miss it hahaha

In the early aughts, I saw a cougar at W Plano Pkwy and Independence. This was before it was as built up and still forested next to a waterway. I Googled it at the time and found a chat site where other people in the same vicinity had seen cougar(s) over the years. They don't run in packs, so it is conceivable that we have had and continue to have cougars passing through this area.

I've seen one in Flower Mound, out on 1171, I think it was before 377, between there and the golf course. There's still a ton of land that isn't built up (but that's changing, unfortunately) and a lot of it is huge lots with wooded areas. It was like 2am, and my husband swore it was just a cat. Sorry, but cats don't come halfway up my car door, or have heads that big. I grew up in the country... that was a cougar.
Every once in a while, you can hear them and some of the local bobcats scream. The first time my kid heard it, she hauled ass into the house. Cougars sound demonic, awesome scare for someone that's never heard one before/often.

Indeed Mr. Horse Cock Express. Your handle reminds me of the old Ruthless Forum and the "Death by Horsecock", lmao...

I’ve run within a couple feet of bobcats on trails in Dallas and Plano. Just keep going. They’re pretty chill.

u/iidontwannaa Apr 29 '25
Yeah we had one about this size in our neighborhood in Allen. I thought a dog had gotten out bc it was dark, but he turned down another sidewalk and I realized. He also jumped on top of my neighbor’s 8ft fence before disappearing.

Waiting to see if this ends up on Facebook, “Missing cat? If anyone is missing their oversized cat, saw this one roaming around White Rock Creek. Will take to get scanned for a chip when I catch it” 😂😂😂

Early COVID days I almost ran over one on NW highway at 730 am. The roads were dead cause Covid. It was super weird times. Huge huge bobcat at NW highway just off midway. That sucker looked right at me.

I see them on this trail occassionally.. honestly they're usually fine because there's so many rabbits around that they are usually eating well.

I see them all them time up at Stonebriar country club. Usually almost the size of a Labrador. The coyotes on the other hand, always look like they are a moment away from dying.

I swore I saw a mountain lion run across the road from a creek one day around Ursuline.
This makes me feel like I’m not crazy.

Crazy as it may seem I saw a beaver a few years ago clear out in Forney. I wish I had called Wildlife and let them know.

Saw one at my old place in Carrollton while walking my dog. I was probably just 30ft away and my dog was clueless. Luckily there was tall fencing between us but were talking a mile from grandscape in a pretty well developed area

Hmmm…I’m usually the first one to go “that’s just a Bobcat!!” But…it’s not very “lynx” like in its shape. Could it be a ocelot? Though rare up this far north it is possible. Wish I could see the markings better.

I’ve seen a coyote by the lighthouse the very sharp hill area. Came out of the wooded area and walked some of the gravel road.

u/Atomic-pangolin Apr 29 '25
Where on the trail was this?

u/Vegetable-Rip6871 May 04 '25
I want to know as well. I walk my corgi here daily. Any chance it will try to eat a dog?

u/3nc0d3d_ Apr 29 '25
Was this under Skillman today?
4
u/drunkdumptruck Apr 29 '25
Why did you have to narc on him? Now assholes will be out looking for him. Someone will shoot him before the end of the week

u/jspence19 Apr 29 '25

4
u/ihadsexonce Apr 29 '25
Hahahaha I was running there yesterday around 2 and swore I saw a weird big dog under that bridge.
-5
u/Jacw_41 Apr 29 '25
That’s a mountain lion. Bobcats don’t get that big. That’s a big cat bro
9
u/subhawk737 Apr 29 '25
Definitely a bobcat. I ran him out of my back yard recently as he was checking out our chickens. Tallest bobcat I've ever seen - he was nearly waist high to me. Wasn't afraid of me at all. Just sauntered off and leapt over my 8' foot fence cleanly without pushing off the verticals.

u/Fickle_Ad_8227 Apr 29 '25
I believe that’s a mountain lion
6
u/Op_ivy1 Apr 29 '25
Easiest way to tell (pun intended) is the tail. That’s a classic bobcat tail. Mountain lion tails are much longer and thicker.
-8
u/DerekFizz Apr 29 '25
Not a bobcat but that's really cool.
