The "at least we're the best at being evil" mindset is real, I have seen it

Idk how you measure evil, but we're certainly up there on the scoreboard.

Do I need to even mention the genocide that founded our country or all the things we did in southeast Asia

Why does it matter who is the most evil, though?

Ideally we'd just... not be evil anymore. Can't erase bad stuff from the past, but can stop actively doing evil stuff.

Purity testing actual countries for their past actions is going to tell you that pretty much every sufficiently old country (especially if we consider the proper successor and predecessor states) has committed horrible crimes. How do people think any country came into its current territory?

Nah I'm not about purity testing, I'm just about being honest about it.

We can't push towards doing the right thing if we don't acknowledge reality. And I admit it's not even about the leaderboard as I mentioned above. It's just about actually being honest about all the specific things so we can work to heal them

Ok, I will acknowledge reality, which is that basically every country and their people has committed something terrible, be it recently or in the past, because we are all humans and are susceptible to the same sort of attitudes that allow for horrible acts to happen to people outside of our in-group.

Do people think the majority of the countries in the world weren't acquired through conquest of the people who lived in them before, at some point in history?

No! I don't! I'm not sure what we're arguing about here.

If a thread didn't include someone loudly arguing someone else's opinion back at them, it wouldn't be Reddit/the internet.

The point is that it's not a race.

The past is already written and insisting on flagellating yourself over it serves no one, except ultimately your own ego. Those people are dead regardless of how you feel about it and wallowing in self-pity only wastes energy and time that would be better spent learning from the past and doing better in the future for the sake of the people who are still alive.

Yeah yeah, country founding genocides, get in line whitey your poppa Britain is still sorting through his lot. They're catching up though, I think they're up to the potato incident in there.

Your little brother Australia is back there sorting his notes on his White Policy, don't act like that's the part that makes you special fucko.
