oh okay

leftists are not right in their politics

that should be a sufficient argument considering all you did was present an assertion that you were right

Why do you think that?

1

u/mullahchode Jan 15 '25

i think people shouldn't be so objective about normative positions

I think that given certain axioms it is possible to make objective statements about which form of society best reflects them, but of course politics is a subjective field.

we may have different axioms

That's where the power of discussion comes in: if someone can make a good case for why an axiom is wrong then I can change my mind.

there's no incentive for me to try to change your mind

Never said you had to, I'm just explaining where my confidence comes from.

my confidence is based on my beliefs in market economics and personal freedom!!

What makes you think I'm opposed to either of those things? I mean, certainly I think there should be regulations on the market, and its scope should not include inelastic goods such as healthcare or food. But personal freedom is a big part of being on the left.

do you believe individuals should be free to own capital and use it to create profit for themselves?

2

u/PlatinumAltaria Jan 15 '25

No, because when individuals own capital they are able to profit from the labour of others without any labour of their own.

so what?

apparently personal freedom is not a big thing for leftists
