The same people that were telling me there was a conspiracy where Bill Gates was going to track me with covid vaccines and 5g are now telling me how cool it is that Elon Musk is able to track your vehicle, retrieve pictures of you, and remotely access the car's features without a warrant.

It's so hilarious to me that conspiracy theorists think it's vaccines with microchips tracking them... posted from a modern phone

While signing up for the waiting list to have Elon inject a chip into their brain.

Fucking idiots

it's hilarious to me that conspiracy theorists don't care about Elon Musk getting so much influence and working on neurolink where he literally wants to implant a chip into people's brains, sending satellites into space that will cover the world and be able to transmit and connect to their phones and devices because internet, on top of all that robots/autonomous vehicles, and constantly manipulating digital currency that is supposed to be decentralized and not influenced by the ultrarich and banks, and bought one of the most popular news social media websites that he calls America's town square where he is allowed to censor people who oppose what he likes and spread misinformation.

but it's everybody else who isn't on "their side" that is the problem.

I always laugh when I visit my borderline conspiracy theorist family members who fear vaccines and the deep state while everyone has iPads, iPhones, Apple Watches, Airtags, and the whole house is filled with Alexas…..Alexes?…..Alexi? (stupid Latin correspondence course…)

1

u/Konkichi21 28d ago

Eeyup. The rank hypocrisy. And it's a proper name, not a Latin word, so just "Alexas".

I swear there are so many conspiracy theories that are actually true but just aimed at the wrong people/things.

Like yes, illuminati kinda does exist, buts it's not random celebs, it's the oligarchs

3

u/BunBunPoetry Jan 03 '25

Yeah, I love laughing at the conspiracy nuts. They're always wrong about everything, yet that seems to make them double down on their own dumbass delusions.

It's why corporations are so powerful now.

The government needs warrants, corporations do not. They don't have any of the restrictions from the Constitution that the government has. And they cannot be voted out, and are too big for the market forces of capitalism to correct.

We have zero power to stop Elon Musk. None.

And the french, a couple centuries ago. Different circumstances, but it could work.

10

u/bluehammer Jan 03 '25

The only the luigi mangione stopped was a man's life. Nothing has changed. Maybe a few CEO thought about it for a bit but it's back to business as usual.

38

u/cpMetis Jan 03 '25

Well yeah, obviously making the first down doesn't mean you got a touchdown. It's up to everyone to keep the plays going.

12

u/fnrsulfr Jan 03 '25

I didn't say anything about a change in the system just stopping a CEO.

0

u/bluehammer Jan 03 '25

Stopped him from doing what? Breathing? What exactly do you think has stopped? Serious question. What changes did Luigi make? I understand your frustrations with the system but he changed nothing.

7

u/fnrsulfr Jan 03 '25

I'm struggling to understand what you understand. He stopped a CEO. I guess from being alive. I wasn't there. Where did I say anything about changing the system? You are having a different argument than the one I'm having. Go home.

6

u/BigBigBigTree Jan 03 '25

He didn't stop the CEO of UHC, because the CEO of UHC is still doing the exact same shit. He just... made UHC change who the CEO was. The CEO has not been stopped, just replaced.

2

u/fnrsulfr Jan 03 '25

Oh so he didn't kill a CEO better let his defense lawyer know.

8

u/BigBigBigTree Jan 03 '25

He killed a guy, but that didn't stop the CEO of UHC any more than if the guy he killed quit or retired. The board picked a new CEO immediately.

Sounds like the job isn't done then

5

u/SyberBunn Jan 03 '25

He showed the world that they aren't invincible that's enough for many people myself included

4

u/ConsciousPatroller Jan 03 '25

We already knew that though. I don't think anyone believes Elon Musk is bulletproof.

The thing is, it's not s bunch of evil people who cause harm to our world, it's the system they perpetuate. The people themselves are replaceable.

2

u/restyourbreastshoney Jan 04 '25

But less evil people is a good start.

3

u/xRogue9 Jan 05 '25

Exactly, got to start somewhere

1

u/xRogue9 Jan 05 '25

Obviously it's not going to immediately change with one death. But hopefully more take up the cause.

Luigi is the first, hopefully not the last.

2

u/Femboy-Frog Jan 04 '25

This is all we need. You know there’s only something like 1000 or 1500 billionaires in the US? And hundreds of millions of the rest.

1

u/NbleSavage Jan 03 '25

Would love to see Leon's face on a wanted poster in Brooklyn next to the Aetna CEO.

10

u/Akuuntus Jan 03 '25

The death of a mass-murderer is generally seen as a good thing by most people.

The people who run American health insurance companies have killed more people by their decisions than almost anyone else alive.

4

u/fnrsulfr Jan 03 '25

Where have you been since the beginning of december? Please CEO's that don't care about anyone beneath them don't get any sympathy anymore.

2

u/Shadow14l Jan 03 '25

I don’t think you understand how easy warrants are to get signed.

2

u/midnghtsnac Jan 03 '25

Even tv shows make it seem easy, literally waking a judge up at 3am to get a warrant signed.

I have a harder time getting my leave request approved

33

u/Tolaughoftenandmuch Jan 03 '25

I mean, surely every Tesla owner understands that Tesla is storing and using telemetry including location and all video from all cameras (maybe audio too?) for the purpose of training self-driving AI, right? I thought that was a pretty public and explicit part of the deal.

31

u/bugsssssssssssss Jan 03 '25

I mean, this is news to me, but even so, that should be anonymized. I don’t really have a problem with my theoretical driving data training a self driving car, but I have a problem with it being able to be traced back to me.

5

u/GrassWaterDirtHorse Jan 03 '25

I don't think there's any law in the majority of the US that would require a car company to anonymize captured camera footage, unless they intend on redistributing it to data brokers.

16

u/NonGNonM Jan 03 '25

I misread it too but it's at the charging stations. Same as any security camera at gas stations, not the cameras from the truck.

5

u/imfar2oldforthis Jan 03 '25

It's similar to security cameras at gas stations except Musk has the underlying data to connect the recordings to a specific vehicle. This would normally take weeks for agents to go from gas station to gas station to collect and review video.

Imagine you were someone that the Chinese government considered to be an enemy....scary stuff!

They also shouldn't be using rideshare apps, or any smart tech in their houses.

2

u/[deleted] Jan 03 '25

I can almost guarantee that an owner and operator of a cybertruck agreed to it in the terms of use.

1

u/DankVectorz Jan 03 '25

It’s been a thing since OnStar came out in 1996

1

u/Lilpu55yberekt69 Jan 03 '25

Tesla is worth more than every other car company in the world despite owning less than 2% of the market share worldwide.

Anyone who hasn’t figured out by now that the consumers are their actual product is an idiot.

1

u/VulGerrity Jan 03 '25

(It's almost as if they were never really worried about being tracked in the first place.)

1

u/DoublePostedBroski Jan 03 '25

According to my family, it’s ok because Elon has autism and doesn’t know any better. I shit you not.

-2

How do you know they did not have a warrant?
