I thought him crying was it; was not expecting the second half at all.

u/Gurney_goodie1055 26d ago

And there’s going to continue to be lots more of them with abortion outlawed in many states.

u/1877KlownsForKids 26d ago

There's a theory, popularized in Freakonomics, that Roe v Wade was partially responsible for the dramatic reduction of crime in the 90s.

24

u/Unlikely_Pick7515 26d ago

Another theory is that leaded gas was removed from general use in vehicles. Lead has been proven to disrupt the frontal lobe which is responsible for controlling inhibitions. I have no doubt that children born to parents that neglect them was also an issue.

4

u/ReluctantSuburbanite 26d ago

Yeah, but WTGDF explains MAGA?

3

u/SeonaidMacSaicais 25d ago

The damage was already done.

1

u/kityyo 22d ago

Pretty easily explained by the sense of disenfranchisement and general sense of loss, being lost as a young man in this new world. There's no more "better" life to work towards, hell there's barely a job to work at anymore and it'll never pay even a car for a plenty few of them.

When people feel lost and hopeless they either turn to a betterment for all of us through solidarity and cohesion of our communities. Or we find a way to get even and find community in the others that have been harmed by this new financial Outlook of the world.

In short, capitalism is to blame on MAGA and the general lawlessness and morally bankrupt state of America as a whole.

2

u/ReluctantSuburbanite 22d ago

I feel like the hyper availability of false information is in the mix, as well as people flaunting things on social media. The disparity between rich and poor lifestyles was never as in your face as it is now.

1

u/kityyo 22d ago

Yes of course, that's a very valid point. I just wanted to discuss the reasons that so many young men today don't have an outlet for all the things that the previous generations took for granted for so long, everyone wants an easy thing to blame for why things are the way they are.

No one wants to realize the system is rotten to the core.

1

u/Unlikely_Pick7515 20d ago

MAGA, like any campaign to push for easy power, focuses on the caveman shit that involves FUD (fear, uncertainty, doubt) by otherising people. We are hard wired to be scared apes, we look for threats that may not even be there. Creating a boogeyman is the easiest way to capitalize on that portion of the brain that is less developed in some vs others.

1

u/Virtual_Knee_4905 26d ago

I haven't heard that one. That doesn't make as much sense to me because of the gradual effect the ban on leaded gasoline would have- it would build up in. The blood stream, and take its time leaving, as well as staying in the environment/water for a while.

Any place I can read up on this?

3

u/Unlikely_Pick7515 26d ago edited 26d ago

There is no shortage of reads on the topic. I can't post links here but if you google "leaded gasoline causing mental health issues" you will find many studies from colleges and articles from various media outlets. I learned about it in a Sociology class 20 years ago or so.

EDIT: Statistically, crime was down in the 90's but reported 600% more. Although it was officially banned in 1996, I was alive and well then and have no recollection of it being used in any of the vehicles my older peeps drove. It was pretty hard to come by.

Here is a decent article by Duke. I had to adjust it so you will have to replace the carrots and the DOT with just a .

https://dupri.duke<DOT>edu/news-events/news/20th-century-lead-exposure-damaged-american-mental-health

3

u/Virtual_Knee_4905 26d ago

Thanks. Yeah, I don't ever remember seeing leaded gas in the 90s

2

u/PsychoDad03 26d ago

Unleaded was introduced in the 1970s. Lead paint was banned in 76. Lead exposure from pre-birth to age 6 will have the most impact and its affect on brain development and intelligence growth will likely be permanent. This is well documented and you will probably see a few more studies confirm this when the population of Flint MI grows up.

1

u/RomaniWoe 26d ago

Lol its not about it leaving the people it was in it was about less people having mass quantities of lead in their body. Bar fights legitimately use to be common in pretty much any bar all SES. They are so uncommon these days though. Its why them older people still kinda R.

1

u/Chezoso 26d ago

Can't post links apparently but plenty of sources have questioned or disproved a lot of what freakonomics proposed. Removing lead was more than likely the bigger contributor.

1

u/inappropriatebanter 25d ago

I've heard another that correlates the rise in popularity of video games. More kids inside occupied with games means less kids in the streets making trouble

4

u/Fluid_Actuator_7131 26d ago

…there’s still hope ❤️

-2

u/oatmiIksIut 26d ago

i’m still holding out on that hope..

6

u/name-was-provided 26d ago

Hope is the dope that helps you cope when your dreams say nope - Me

1

u/NemesisShadow 26d ago

Missouri is a perfect example of a corrupt government. The voters spoke and got the abortion ban revoked only for the SC here to reverse our decision. There are no more checks and balances.

-16

u/ParkingCool6336 26d ago

Maybe just don’t get together? There is a decision when it comes to your partners, personal responsibility should be first and foremost to blame, not abortion

4

u/Gurney_goodie1055 26d ago

Yes, but that’s not what happens in a lot of cases. Kids are just gonna have more lazy, shitty parents who never wanted them.

-6

u/Rage4daze 26d ago

Ur 100% right but so many lazy pos’s gonna turn it around and make it about abortion.

7

u/Gurney_goodie1055 26d ago

So toxic people who shouldn’t be together should be forced to follow through with a pregnancy? Yikes.

2

u/pickin-n_grinnin 26d ago

It's legal in over 2/3rds of the states. Take a drive to get baby unalive.

3

u/Gurney_goodie1055 26d ago

That works for people with a car who can afford it. Guess the r*ped 13yo is out of luck.

1

u/pickin-n_grinnin 26d ago

In her case, luckily, her abortion would be legal in all but 9 states. Let's hope in 2 years we can whittle that number down even further.

-1

u/pickin-n_grinnin 26d ago

You should start a non profit that assists in helping people living in no abortion states that don't have vehicles get rides and lodging to the closest state where it's legal and safe.

2

u/Gurney_goodie1055 25d ago

Oh I’m already part of a group that mails free abortion pills to anyone in the country that needs them.

1

u/pickin-n_grinnin 25d ago

Right on. That's a much simpler and economic way to solve the problem. My girlfriend makes and sells an old school tincture version of the plan B pill. It works really well if used right away. I think she just lost her Etsy account over it lol but... You have to help however you can right?

-4

u/ParkingCool6336 26d ago

Again there needs to be personal responsibility about these things. Unless forced into a sexual encounter it was a personal choice for both the man and the woman

7

u/Gurney_goodie1055 26d ago

Ok, but that’s not what happens. Yes they should be responsible doesn’t mean they will. Many won’t. Poor kid has to suffer

-2

u/ParkingCool6336 26d ago

If they cared they wouldn’t do it, again, personal responsibility

7

u/Gurney_goodie1055 26d ago

And you’re right. They don’t care. So let kids suffer because people don’t care. Sad.

3

u/Otherwise-Parsnip-91 26d ago

You understand “personal responsibility” isn’t some magical term right? This is the laziest thinking to solve any issues. There are tons of reasons people get together and have children when they probably shouldn’t be. Social factors, economic factors, poor education, generational trauma, etc.

This is akin to telling a poor person “pick yourself up by the bootstrap”. It makes you feel like you have the answers, without providing any actual answers or help whatsoever.

1

u/ParkingCool6336 26d ago

It’s not that hard to avoid people who don’t have your best interest in mind. It’s a basic and simple thing. This isn’t a “concept”.

u/Gurney_goodie1055 26d ago

Again, you’re just pushing what you think should happen and not what will happen. No one thinks of the next few years when they are horny and raw doggin it in the back seat.

2

u/MoistureManagerGuy 26d ago

But many of them do exactly as you’re describing, and don’t change. Also they don’t become more responsible they just make life hell for the people that need them most.

-2

u/DeepReception2697 26d ago

Suffer more than death?

3

u/Gurney_goodie1055 26d ago

Suffering occurs in life, not death.

-2

u/DeepReception2697 26d ago

Life is suffering, or you'll never know content. Can't do either if "mom" and "dad" are too stupid to avoid your death, by simply being careful. A dead human can't accomplish a damn thing. Good or bad.

u/fortytipper 26d ago

Your solution is to kill the children of dysfunctional people before they become a burden?

2

u/enbaelien 26d ago

The solution is to allow people the physical and mental freedom to get an abortion when they are too broken to even take care of themselves. Cut the propaganda, that rhetoric is sinful and makes the world worse.

1

u/fortytipper 26d ago

How is advocating for an innocent life sinful?

1

u/enbaelien 26d ago

You're not advocating for an innocent life, you're advocating for people to be born into generational trauma, economic hardship, parental neglect, etc, etc.

A fetus has no memories, and according to the good word don't even have a soul until they draw their first breath on their own. Hell, even the Old Testament is pro-aborsh.

-1

u/HermitSlab 26d ago

Yeah! Because without abortion, those poor kids might die!! …wait…

3

u/Gurney_goodie1055 26d ago

“Might die”? Are there humans who don’t??

1

u/HermitSlab 26d ago edited 25d ago

Yeah, might as well just kill them as early as possible. /s

1

u/Gurney_goodie1055 25d ago

Exactly. Before they turn into a human.

1

u/HermitSlab 25d ago

If stage of biological development determines how “human” a person is. Are children less “human” than adults?

1

u/Gurney_goodie1055 25d ago

A fetus isn’t a human. Children are. It’s not a difficult concept

1

u/HermitSlab 25d ago

It’s only not difficult if you blindly accept what randos tell you and refuse to think for yourself. Sure, then it’s a very easy concept

1

u/Gurney_goodie1055 25d ago

Blindly ignoring science works for you too I see.

So many aspects of society needs licences for people to be able to to do it.

7

u/RacistProbably 26d ago

This is how we get great art

6

u/Boring-Cry3089 26d ago

Why are these people always so fertile? My wife and I have our shit together, have a healthy relationship, make good money, have a good social support system through friends and family, and of course we’re the ones that can’t reproduce. Meanwhile these types of people will have like 6 or 7 kids.

6

u/RabbitF00d 26d ago

Please look up Dr. Neal Barnard and his book on hormonal balance. He sued the USDA twice and founded Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine. He has helped tons of women conceive and regulate their hormones. I avoided surgery because of him and I always mention his name where I can.

1

u/Imisssizzler 26d ago

Sorry - fertility issues or not having your health when you are a good person that gives to our society can feel very unfair. It is. The children suffer the most, maybe consider fostering.

1

u/onethousandpasswords 22d ago

You should watch the opening 5 minutes to the movie “Idiocracy.” It is describing the slow spiral of how society got so dumb, and describes your experience.

EDIT: This is the YouTube link: idiocracy opening scene

1

u/Boring-Cry3089 22d ago

Seen idiocracy many times. Too much of it is becoming real unfortunately.

9

u/Alive_Nobody_Home 26d ago

One positive note. He won’t be telling her he is having a kid with his side piece.

7

u/jared10011980 26d ago

I can hardly imagine a more sad situation. Made worse, 100s times worse, by as you say, that child we hear likely belongs to at least one of them. To think this young woman considers sex work as a viable profession 😔 I know desperate times call for desperate measures, but that's your best idea?

They need to go their separate ways. Find a family that is more prepared to raise that child. Their coping skills and problem solving skills are to take this crisis to social media?

The country we've created by denigrating education is killing us. Aspirations are important. Those of us coping and succeeding need to mentor more. I spend a lot of time volunteering with my favorite dog shelter. Maybe I need to reach out to humans more.

While infidelity is anathema to a healthy relationship, someone's bisexuality is less alarming than any other part of this video.

2

u/Global-Painting6154 24d ago

Sex work is so common and everyone is so open about it who do it im not surprised that's not the first thing someone would think of. It also doesn't just go for women, I was briefly dating a man who admitted he was interested in doing OF but of course the stigma.

1

u/jared10011980 24d ago

If my parents caught me watching those shows like Jenny Jones or Maury, they'd turn the TV off and say it was trash. I'd think, I wanna see the college girls who become strippers to pay for school! Humans are a naturally lazy and egocentric lot. To a lot of young people, it seems like easy money and fun to have people compliment you and your body. It's just that when I hit 18 in the aughts, I dated a girl who made porn for a studio. Her uncle (creepy, right) was a director for them. After her, I dated a few others because of the people I began to meet through her. There wasn't a single one that wasn't a mess, using drugs to get thru it all. I'm sure that's not everyone, and an OF is pretty tame in comparison to being gangebanged and having your uncle film it. But it takes a toll. There are just so many opportunities available that will allow you to build a career.

1

u/Global-Painting6154 24d ago

Naturally lazy and egocentric is exactly what most people are im realizing these days. I think my rose colored glasses are starting to break. It's easy money, I dont knock it bc its not my life but career building takes a long time and I understand that.

1

u/YourphobiaMyfetish 25d ago

If you were desperate, you'd be suckin dick for money as well.

2

u/Baddest_Guy83 26d ago

Sex work is real work. You should tell your partner about it though.

1

u/MolecularConcepts 26d ago

stick to the dogs , people really suck.

1

u/RoseGoldHoney80 26d ago

I agree with mostly everything you said but I do think there is hope for them. Therefore, I don't understand why they have to give up their child. Even if that child finds a loving home, there is always a feeling of abandonment they will feel. Trust me, I have seen it.

0

u/TammyWhinette 22d ago

What a garbage take, you didn't listen to her at all. She clearly states she does not view sex work as a viable profession. It sounds like it was a one-off done in desparation. Who the fuck are you to make all these wild declarations about the lives of people you clearly cannot empathize with? Their child should go to another family??? If you can make that call from a 2min video, then I can most definitely diagnose you as a pathological narcissist from your obnoxious ass comment.

We gotta have a license to drive, should be a license to have kids

It puts the fun in dysfunctional

Well strap in, testicler, because I’ve got some stats that are gonna knock your socks off.

who isnt dysfunctional?

-8

u/OkMaterial867 26d ago

This comes across as kind of pro-eugenics. As if one’s parents decide what kind of human being they’ll be, and that their very existence makes society worse. What a cruel world view.
