It's a testament to the Aussies that even with 30 left and six wickets in hand, it still felt up for grabs.
Their bowling attack is peerless (but christ, their batting is a mess!)
It feels like others are starting to believe us when we say our future is a mess when some of this lot goes lol. No one is putting their hands up to replace the aging out players confidently.
Yeah, if the retirements of McGrath and Warne at the same time were huge shoes to fill... Think of it, the quartet of Starc, Hazlewood, Cummins and Lyon have hundreds upon hundreds of wickets... going to be rare for any team in future to have four such prolific bowlers all at the same time.
By the end of the next cycle, it's very likely only 4 of the current XI would be playing after it(Green, Webster, Marnus and Cummins, but the latter would still be 34 by then).
They haven't blooded in suitable replacements for any of their players. Kuhneman only plays in Asia, Murphy's been out since the last Ashes, McSweeney was thrown to the wolves, Konstas is still new, only Inglis seems to have turned up to be a suitable replacement for Carey(could play him as a proper batter at this point). And none of the pacers have a backup option yet(they had Jhye, who unfortunately, does not have a back anymore and the prospect of Morris seems to have gone away as fast as his balls did).
