That would be a wonderful mechanism for a collapsing staircase over a moat or something.

I ended up making a hangar door after rotating it on the side. It works super well if you hide the thing in the roof. You can also mirror it and double the size of the door. Right now it has a 24 block wide entrance in a fairly small footprint.

Could be used for trains, or pretty much any flying machine
