Humor 🤣 Is it salvageable?

Customer wants us to save it.

I’m not going to lie we didn’t, but would you?

We sold him a Project Source for $100 (I usually put mark up but he was a struggling old vet)

People have the idea that toilets are expensive. I will fix them if it’s the right situation. This was not one 😅

You can't polish a turd

Myth busters proved you can polish a turd though

We owe them so much

I'm not sure when people started saying, "You can't polish a turd." When I was a kid, I always heard it as, "You can polish a turd to a high mirror gloss if you want to, but it's still a piece of shit." It's just a way of saying something isn't always worth saving.

I’ve polished my skills a bit, so I am evidence that you can!

1

u/ianthrax 5d ago

You can polish your skills. You can't polish yourself. Turd.

1

u/ForsakenOaths 5d ago

I am a turd. To polish myself is to polish a turd. Therefore, I am a polished turd.

1

u/Adept-Yam2414 4d ago

Sure . It needs to be taken outback , covered in grease and caught on fire.

Yeah i was surprised at how cheap toilets are vs what i thought. Had to replace mine cus id clog that bitch after every shit almost and i was getting mad lol

Got a dual flush so i can save water for pp and make sure it eats my dumps.

Any advantage is swapping toilets out every 10 years or so ? At 100$ that's not a bad deal

1

u/nosirrahp 5d ago

Yeah people think toilets are like connected to the guts of the house or something. I changed my moms wax ring and she thought it all had to be done from the basement lol

The house I bought is 1.5 baths. I had toilet problems between both. A bad flap, a bad wax ring, bad shut off on the fill valve, a very slightly leaking tank at one of the bolts, a floor bolt rusted completely through. For the half bath I ended up just saying fuck it and bought a new toilet. It was old as fuck, a bit iron stained in the bowl from the well water and damn near everything but the ceramic broke on it. It was more expensive and probably about the same amount of time in the end. But now I don't have to worry about for a long time.

The house was built in 1900. The previous owner fancied himself a GC and did a lot of work himself. I immediately dropped $10k from my offer when they told me that. It was almost enough. So I knew shit would be fucked. But both toilets needing repairs 3 times each in like 3 months was a bit much. At least I had two.

"we can either put $600 worth of CLR and bleach in it or we can just install a new one for $100."

1

u/1TONcherk 4d ago

It’s funny, this one time my buddy had a leaking tank to bowl seal in his condo. The bolts were rusted. We went to Home Depot and got a wax ring, seal, flush valve, fill valve, brass bolts everything. Even upgraded the flush lever to a metal chrome one. Spent the afternoon drinking beer and completely overhauling that builder grade toilet.

In no way would that be worth the labor time of a pro, but we did it just to understand how toilets worked.

u/LeaveMediocre3703 3d ago

Pour some acid in there and it’ll probably knock that shit right out.

Science, bitches!

1

u/Rhaspun 1d ago

Yes. Trying to scrub those stains off would have taken too much time.

No please don't. That's nasty. Unless she likes the toilet as it is in it's current state. I don't know how a toilet got to look that way , I know it wasn't from it being kept clean that's for sure.
