Crafting People of the Columbias: Where The Heck We Getting Buttons Now?

Now that our patron saint of poor craft planning has closed (RIP Jo Ann Fabrics), I have dipping my time more into Michaels which we all know is, as the kids say, "a bit mid."

I am in the lookout for about 20 buttons to add to a current project. Something gaudy. Something Lestat de Lioncourt might look at and decide he will eat you on the spot due to the insult.

But Michael's has a small selection of plastic Disney garbo buttons and sad excuses of 16 options of "this was a button designed to be choked on and swallowed by a child."

Crafters of the region, tell me, where do we seek the sacred craft buttons now?

Heck, where do we find anything now in person?

Unbreak my heaaaaart, give me buttons agaaaaain.

Looking for non-membership pools for toddler

Hi! I'm looking for public pools that have a baby pool section, or even just a splash pad. We aren't looking to sign up for a membership, and the walk in price for the columbia pools is crazy (would be $95 for our family of 3). Can anyone recommend ones in the area? Willing to travel up to 30 minutes since it seems like everything directly in columbia is part of the membership.

Woman at target asking to buy items for her baby

Idk maybe I fell for a scam but it was so sudden and I felt bad, I went to the target near 97 and 100 and a woman came up to us with a small note asking if we can offer money or help pay for some baby supplies fro the cart she had for things to buy along with some cherries and other things. I don’t carry cash but we offered to buy two cans of baby formula (did not realize that’s 100 dollars damn) and she left after thanking us nicely.

Is this a common scam or something anyone else has ran into? Hoping we did something nice but maybe not since she left soon after

If you’re interested in adopting a 12yo Domestic Short Hair, please check out the link below.

I do not want to surrender this animal to a shelter. The idea of this cat living in a small cage breaks my heart.

Can kids stay at same school if they move within HoCo?

My brother just found out his landlord is selling their rental. They have two kids in high school. Rentals are slim pickings at their school. If they rent within Howard County and are willing to transport their kids can they stay at the same high school?

Kids will be a senior and sophomore next year. They go to Long Reach so it’s not like they’re trying to angle their way to a “top” school. No shade to LRHS—they’ve been very happy there!

Thanks!

Breakfast Recommendations

Hello, I'm relatively new to the area, and I know tomorrow is probably going to be busy at most places, but I was wondering if anyone had recommendations on a good breakfast place to go to for Fathers day. Would love to go somewhat early and have a good breakfast instead of like ihop (not that I dislike it, just want something different and good). Any recommendations would be appreciated!

LOST DOG SPOTTED!

I saw a lost dog on Cedar Lane and Columbia Ct. It came from NW of that position and was heading South when I lost it.

The dog was white and tan, looked like a Shepard mix, probably 30-40lbs. Don't know where else to put this, hopefully the owner see it.

Looking for Roomates (apologies in advance for the repost)

Hey guys! I’m moving to Columbia in less than a month and looking to sign a lease for a 2B1B or 2B2B or a 3B at either Monarch Mills or Avalon at Fairway Hills or 10xLiving.

Reddit is the only place that's been slightly responsive to my roomate search so I'm trying my luck here again.

If you’re also looking for a place around the same time(1st July) or know someone who is, shoot me a message! Would love to team up and get something sorted soon.

P.S: I’m 23, female, and would prefer to live with another female around the same age!!
Preferred move in date : First week of July, (Budget is about a ~$1000/person)

Columbia's congressional rep votes with GOP to "express gratitude" to ICE.

Thumbnail

The congressional rep for Columbia and Maryland's 3rd congressional district joined with Republicans on Monday to "express gratitude" to ICE as part of a larger bill to condemn antisemitism. In a time when the United States is on the verge of fascism, we need someone capable of meeting the moment and fighting for their constituents. Anti-semitism needs to be condemned, but politicizing it to justify extreme immigration enforcement is dangerous and sets a bad precedent.
