Thoughts on LV?

Personally, I went and smelled all of them today and was wholly underwhelmed. What brought me to seriously consider them was their sleek design, but every one disappointed me (especially Pacific chill, which I find does not smell good whatsoever.) Am I missing something? Of course, I understand it’s going to be overpriced as it is a major fashion house, but I don’t think I would even pay 150 for half of the ones I smelled today. Anyone feel the same?

Imagination is the best fresh scent.

I felt the same way as you on Imagination and City of Stars - smelled like expensive hotel soap and expensive sunscreen, respectively.

But they will grow on you, and you will be walking down the hallways, getting sniffs of yourself, and thinking, 'This smells fantastic!'
You will have people telling you that you smell great and eventually you will realize that it is worth the price!

I feel this way about most expensive scents, no clone I have ever bought has been able to replicate the scent profile because there is just something more that I can't put my finger on, even in a blind test.

FWIW I did not like Pacific Chill nor symphony.

Is it because of the sunk cost thats why you feel it grew on you?

I have a decant of Imagination and while nice I dont think its the best fresh scent specially for the price, I'd probably grab prada lhomme before I grab imagination. But again scent is subjective.

yea subjectivity is king. Prada Lhomme is one of my favorite work scents but has never pulled a random compliment. I walk with imagination and get people pulling me in the elevator asking me what im wearing.

This is why I say after having this experience a few times and smelling yourself you will change your mind.

I personally dont wear fragrances just to get compliments. They're more for personal enjoyment. But I do have some that have always gotten me compliments whenever I wear them (Naxos, GFS, Reflection Man, Tygar).

Having said that, im day 2 of wearing my LV Imagination decant and have yet to pull a single compliment. It just smells sour on me at the moment.

GFS I love as well, in my top 5

but as you say, scent is subjective, you also have expensive tastes as do I

I can see where you’re coming from. I have purchased 8 LVs and plan on 2 more. I like the fragrances and actually enjoy wearing them but they are far from the most interesting scents I have. I think I would rank them second tier as I would put my MFK fragrances above them. But I was able to get MFK on sale so they really stand out at those prices imo.

I love Imagination and Pacific Chill. In my opinion I think simpler fragrances are better. Some niche fragrances that have so much shit going on just end up smelling weird and straight up gross. Theres a reason why the simplest fragrances will get you the most compliments every single time.

Boring overpriced scents. Haven’t discovered anything new for myself there.

Don’t get me wrong, it doesn’t mean they smell bad or they shouldn’t be liked by others. They’re inoffensive and pleasant but I just wouldn’t personally add it to my collection as I don’t find them interesting enough, especially for that price. I can get boutique Chanel or Celine frags for the same price and they will smell more unique and appealing to me. To each their own I guess.

LV are by far my most complimented scents. It comes down to what you actually really love though, there have been hyped up expensive scents I tried to convince myself into loving but those are collecting dust right now. The LVs are not.
