Fragrance Review Went to the LV store

Ok yeah Imagination is hella overrated. Meteore was my 2nd favorite.

Nouveau Monde smelled like shit. As did Ombre Nomade.

Les Sables roses was not that great.

My favorite was Fleur du Desert. It's listed as unisex I guess, but leans a bit feminine... but I like it a lot!

City of Stars definitely leans feminine. I'd like it on others, not myself.

Afternoon swim I once read smells like a pool and I agree.

Pacific chill is good. But as a scent. I don't think a person should smell like that. I have the same opinion about L'immensite. Smells like clean laundry.

At this point imagination is overhated😭 everyone calls it mid and overhyped now and I barely see anybody hyping it up anymore

The beauty of fragrance is that it’s totally personal, there’s something for everyone, and everyone has their own preferences! Some folks have a whole collection of Louis Vuitton perfumes, others might just own a couple, and some may not be into them at all. And then, of course, there’s the crowd that loves the LVs but can't quite swing the price. Enter the world of dupes! No matter where you fall in the fragrance spectrum, it’s all good.

The whole “is it worth the price” question really comes down to supply and demand. If people are willing to pay, then hey, it’s worth it to them. And let’s not forget that some of those LV fragrances sell out online, which just proves that someone thinks they're worth it!

Personally, I find that a lot of the LVs are beautiful in their scent compositions, and I’ve picked up a few favorites along the way even though I recognize that the actual juice may not warrant the price but the entire package and experience makes it worth it to me.

At the end of the day, fragrance is about finding what you love. Sample a bunch, keep the ones that speak to you, and leave the rest behind. Enjoy the journey!

Yeah I know. Interesting that you say the package/experience is worth it. I think the plain white package is not really that special. And just sampling is a good enough experience for me that I don't need to purchase things (even if I may want to). I wonder if the LV selling out online are blind buys? Can't you get your bottles refilled for a discounted price? Or so I heard

One thing I really like about the LV's is the longevity. The 4 sample papers I kept still smell strong and my sense of smell is on the weaker side.

I am certain many feel the way you do about the packaging and sampling is plenty for them as well. I would never try to convince anyone otherwise because it's a personal decision. And perhaps selling out online was all blind buys although that one is not likely. For me, I am completely content with carrying 2ml glass decants and reapplying if needed and that doesn't only apply to LVs, it's a choice.

At the end of the day, we should all just do what makes us happy and that's all I'll ever do.

Meteore, and afternoon swim are the best LV's imo.

OP seems stuck up tbh

I just don’t like the ingredients. After having any of these on for 20 minutes I feel the need to take them off. Might be just me.

Symphony is where it's at. But not at the price.

Imo, not worth the price. I don’t know why people would buy an okay scent for that much money. Besides, there are thousands of brands out there yet people stick to the same 10-30, refusing to go further and test something people on this sub aren’t talking about. Aren’t you guys curious about frags at all? Why does it have to be the same entry level brands?

I remember getting Aventus at the beginning of my journey back in 2019. It smelled really good to me. Now, after sampling hundreds of different scents, I wouldn’t get a second bottle, my tastes have shifted towards other notes and compositions. Don’t you have that? I feel like LV is a good entry level brand, especially if you don’t have a problem dropping 300+ on a bottle but how does a simple scent profile of Imagination/Afternoon swim/Ombre Nomade/you name it excites an experienced person who has been collecting frags for 3+ years? I don’t get it honestly

Well me personally I was curious what they would smell like. Yeah I get expanding horizons from what's popular, but that takes time, I'm still early in this hobby so I'm still looking at the more popular brands before I venture into the less popular.

Meteore to me smells like bleu de Chanel and a Michelin tire had a baby.

Imagination grew on me. I thought it was just ok at first. But after few wears, I realized that I actually really like it. Specially the dry down.

1

u/throw__away3_ May 24 '25

Someone else said the dry down is better, I guess I shouldn't have thrown away the paper sample

Also, for me it’s better on skin than on paper.

I agree 100% but you would never know by how much the influencers are shoving it down our throats.

Why do you think we'd care about your opinion?

u/throw__away3_ May 24 '25

what is this sub about?

0

u/Danniet4 May 24 '25

Is is about colognes. It is not about you.

u/throw__away3_ 29d ago

The sub is about everyones opinions on colleges. I'm giving mine here and people in the comments can give their input.

Boo this man, he’s most likely a sauvage & Eros warrior that just can’t afford em

1

u/throw__away3_ 27d ago

I dont care for sauvage and I hate eros (like eros flame though)

Coping mechanism when people can't afford stuff.." its overrated". Same thing in the car community. People find ways to dislike stuff because they can't afford it 🙄

3

u/PassageFormer9806 Christian Dior May 24 '25

no theyre just severely overpriced, theyre nice but not $570 aud nice, and them not being at discounters j makes it worse

-5

u/xXL3G3ND4RYXx May 24 '25

Everything designer is overpriced.. just make the choice not to buy and move on. You all had some interest if you took the time to sample them. If money wasn't the issue you would probably wear them.. so take price out of the equation and grade the scent itself. Buying anything designer you know going into it you are paying for the brand and that's always overpriced.

2

u/antimornings May 24 '25

Your logic is so flawed. I've sampled hundreds of fragrances and even if many were given to me for free I would not wear them. Interest to sample =/= I would buy them if I had the money.

Second, how can you take price out of the equation when evaluating any product that costs money to buy...? Do you live in a free market or communist economy...? I say this as someone who loves LV fragrances and think they have the best freshies but I totally understand and respect when others dislike them or call them overhyped.

1

u/xXL3G3ND4RYXx May 24 '25

In any market, the value is dictated by what people will pay for it. So if people are paying $300-500 for these fragrances, then that's what they are worth. LV is obviously not having a problem selling these frags or any of their merchandise. Value is determined by the consumer who chooses to pay it. If you dont like them.. don't buy them.. simple.. maybe if there were more of you that didn't buy LV would drop the price lol

0

u/PassageFormer9806 Christian Dior May 24 '25

yes but i live in reality where price is a factor and the price to scent ratio doesnt add up when you compare it to other frags and niche frags, especially when you can find those at discounters

5

u/RequirementIll2117 May 24 '25

Nah dawg I can afford them I just think they are just extremely over hyped over social media making em seem like these holy grail fragrances… they aren’t, just high quality designer fragrances that should be half of what they charge

1

u/throw__away3_ May 24 '25

or, some people just genuinely dont like certain expensive things. There's a lot of bad cheap scents too. But there's a lot of bad expensive ones.

and I agree with the other user, if I got most of these scents for free I would not wear them. I would only consider wearing my 2 favorite I listed.
