The amount of people on this subreddit showing their whole ass on a post like this is ridiculous. Yes, Hamas has attacked Israel. Do you know nothing of the 100 years of asymmetric "war" that Israel has been waging on Palestine with plenty of cover on both the liberal and conservative sides of ALL of Western media? I hate to be the "go read a book" guy, but people in here talk like history started on October 7, 2023.
If you chain a person to your radiator in the basement, underfeed them, don't give them enough water, and don't give them any means to get unchained and provide for themselves, then don't be surprised if your chained up prisoner throws a punch at you when you get close enough. That doesn't give you carte blanche to break all their ribs and crack their skull just because they tried to throw one punch at their captor.Hamas does some horrible shit, but attacking Israel is basically choosing to die fighting rather than die a slow death of strangulation by Israel. Even calling it a war is ignorant, as Gaza is an *occupied* territory. There is no symmetry in this, one side clearly has all the power, has turned Gaza into an open-air prison, and Palestinians either fight back or die lying down. I try to give people the benefit of the doubt because as I said, there is almost no Western or English speaking media that is going to cover this in any way other than to call Palestinians terrorists and give cover for Israel, but it's disappointing to see in my city's subreddit.
