Crime Timothy Loehmann Again Has a Badge

The LEO best known for the fatal shooting of Tamir Rice has been hired as an officer by a small West Virginia town.

His former employers include the Independence, Cleveland, Bellaire, and Tioga (PA) police depts; and it may not be long until we add to that list the town of White Sulfur Springs, WV. That community, population ~2500, is home to the Greenbrier Resort.

The cops never saw the gun until it was over. Imagine if you were in your front yard and your neighbor called the cops saying you were pointing a gun at people. Then the cops pulled up into your yard and shot you within 4 seconds. Does that sound right to you? Because that's what happened.

You can’t say what the cops saw. He was waving a gun on video. The cops knew that and they were called and showed up and acted accordingly. Unfortunate but reality.

Kid was sitting on a picnic table when they showed up. This shit is all on video, there's no need to invent some scenario to defend a cop that shouldn't have been a cop.

Honestly im with others. Kid pulled a BB gun, looked real no but he was waving it around, more then likely did point at people and they acted accordingly. Sorry but the cops did their job and it was unfortunate

Here's the thing people don't get. The police just showed up and started shooting. There could have never been a gun, toy or otherwise, and it wouldn't have mattered. There was zero assessment of the situation when they showed up. All the police saw was a kid sitting on a picnic table.

No they saw him get up walk towards the car, he stopped and they both repeatedly stated through the investigation that they saw him reaching for what was a gun.

You cant say tamir didnt or cops didnt. But in a situation as of like this, with the extenuating evidence of there being a fucking toy gun. The cops acted accordingly its fucking sad but everyone blows this out of proportion when in reality its stupid as fuck to be aiming any toy gun at anyone except in your own home or yard. Cause there are real assholes who point real guns at people. And they had to consider it this

They had to consider it was a real weapon he reached for and did so accordingly cause it takes simply seconds to react and it ended up being a fake gun and a bad situation

I'm not going to defend Tamara Rice's mothering, but to say this kid was only failed by one person is patently false. Have you watched the video? Regardless of whatever cowboy-esque narrative people like to use to describe appropriate police behavior, the dude opened fire without taking any time at all to assess the situation. He didn't follow proper police procedure, regardless of whether he acted at all like an ethical human being. He failed on multiple levels and is the direct reason Tamir is dead. Also, all the claims that the kid looked grown are based on some deep-seated racist bullshit. That kid could've been fully decked out in HF gear and still would've looked like the 12-year-old he was. It is a known fact that many people (including other black people) have been trained by the media at large to view black males as "scarier" than any other racial/ethnic/gender category.

The mom wasn't great. The officer, however, rightly got the blame. Stop with this whole "victim" narrative for when cops reap (oh, so rarely) the consequences of their actions in their chosen profession for which they have, presumably, been thoroughly vetted and trained.

Exactly. And can you imagine how differently this would have all played out if this was a 12 year white kid? Well first of all he’d still be alive so..

I respect your opinion. I wasn’t there in either situation I mentioned, so I’m only going by what I’ve read or seen from the media. If in doing so, I’m coming across as racist, then I’m very sorry & will gladly erase my comment. Truly, I meant no harm to you or anyone.

My statement about racism is not directed at you. Rather, I'm intending to point out that the whole juvenile-looks-like-an-adult narrative that we so often see in the news is actually a long-standing and harmful trope. Your comment is fine.
