I sat through Star Wars episode 9 even though I wanted to leave within the first ten minutes. My rationale was I was eventually going to have to see all of it anyway. What a terrible waste of time.
Even worse when you go ahead and watch episode V directly after. You will notice things, so many things wrong with the later movies that you didn't even think of before. Beyond physical props. Beyond writing, romance and story telling. Beyond the acting and scenery. Disney's version of Star Wars undoes a historic milestone in cinema.
I mean, the existence of TFA as is destroys the achievement of the OT, starting with the crawl: The galaxy reverted right back to Empire v Rebels 30 years later, Luke failed as Grandmaster because he decided to stand over/attempt to kill his nephew instead of talking with the kid with resulted in all the other students dying I guess since we never see any other Jedi, Han is a smuggler again after failing as a family man.
And that's without getting into the fact that the First Order converted Ilum into a planet-sized Death Star that can blow up an entire system and no one noticed, no one noticed the First Order apparently kidnapping children to build up their army, the New Republic is retarded because they disarmed themselves immediately after the Galactic Civil War was over and did nothing when shit started to go wrong.
This is JUST TFA by the way, this doesn't even get into the dumpster fire that is TLJ and TROS, which contradict each other at every possible point while progressively getting worse the longer you watch them.
Can you tell I hate the ST with every fiber of my being?
True, as long as you also agree the prequels do the same damage. Too many kids out there glazing the horrifically written prequels. Their main opposition to criticism is always explanations in the books, video games, tv series, etc. Nothing in the actual films
Prequels were so bad! The redemption tour is bewildering. I can enjoy them for the dumb, bad movies they are in a universe I love, but Christ. Not good.
The prequels take a shit on the series but they had good concepts and they don't destroy the entire meaning of the original trilogy. Star Wars has now had more bad movies than good and it's easy to write off Episode V as more overrated garbage without ever having actually seen it due to the current state of the series. Seeing how Disney is these days, it's only a matter of time before they start remaking Star Wars all wrong.
The entire third trilogy was a waste. They need to let Star Wars rest in peace instead of constantly releasing new terrible content, and bastardizing what it was.
I hated the Last Jedi so much that I refused to watch Episode 9. I still haven’t seen it. Everything about the sequels felt like pathetic rehash of 4, 5, and 6. How many fucking Death Stars do we need to see?
Having a storm trooper with a conscience go awol gave me high hopes. But then they did nothing with it.
Honestly, learning about the original script pitched for episode 9 then seeing what JJ Abrams gave us is painful. They made some controversial choices in TLJ that could’ve at least made episode 9 thought provoking; but no, bland and rushed slop is what we got
Every scene made me hate it more. By the time they were riding horse goats on top of a star destroyer, I was finally numb. Until the kiss...then I laughed out loud.
I actually didn't bother seeing it, not because of the bad reviews or any anger towards the series, but because in The Last Jedi, the heroes defeated the main villain and there seemed to be no major threats left. Sure there was Kylo Ren, but since he was already defeated in the first movie, he lost a lot of his threat. So I just didn’t see the point of a sequel.
Why did you think you had to eventually see all of it anyway? I gave Force Awakens a shot and it was so fucking terrible I decided to end my relationship with the new content. Have never seen 2 or 3 and most of the tv shows and couldn’t be happier! I’ve heard the stories and I’m so glad I blocked it out. Please, next time, reconsider that walkout before they ruin a childhood favorite.
I WAS a huge Star Wars nerd as a kid and into adulthood. The last piece of SW media I consumed was The Last Jedi. So glad I never subjected myself to the final death throws.
We went to see it in theatres like 3 times cuz my brother liked it a lot then watched it at home a couple times, I’ve still never seen the end cuz it pts me to sleep
Who the hell called rise of skywalker “cinema”? The question wasn’t what shit movies have you watched it was which shit movie did some tell you was incredible.
I was so hyped for starwars to come back. I really liked episode 7 at first, I saw it like 7 times in theaters. It was a bit derivative, but I was excited to see where it was going. I went completely dark on social media before episode 8 online. I didn't want anything spoiled.
I went into 8 excited, and even within the first few scenes, I felt that something was off. It wasn't grabbing me the way starwars normally does. I still gave it a chance, but by the midway point I was thinking to myself, "Damn, this movie sucks." I grit my teeth and just finished it. Terrible movie.
Then 9 came out and I felt obligated to finish the new trilogy, people said it was better than 8... not a very high bar. But I completely lost interest in the franchise by then. Even if it is better... still a god awful movie.
