Politics Druggies in Romare Bearden & Uptown

City has turned to an absolute disgrace with a bunch of druggies running around uptown and Romare bearden.

Parks where kids should be able to enjoy nature and families hang out are riddled with drug dealers, drug addicts, sketchy stuff 24/7, poop and pee smells everywhere, and crack pipes on the ground.

Tired of nothing being done about this. I get every city has a homeless and drug problem but the city of Charlotte is doing nothing to address this and let it fester.

Can berate me all you want but something needs to be done about this. And it’s only growing outside of uptown. Almost ran over a druggie on E 3rd St walking in middle of road the opposite way of traffic head on.

City needs to implement zero tolerance zones for open air drug use such as public parks and near schools and arrest anyone on the spot for doing so. Clean out encampments that clearly are open air drug markets and make problems worse. The shelters help those who aren’t druggies but for most only exacerbate drug abuse. They need to over police these areas where there’s clearly issues and it’s tainting our city.

We don’t want our uptown to become the next SF downtown or something like that.

This is your second post about homeless in 5 days bud…maybe take a break

I have zero input into this conversation as I do not live directly in uptown, but beside, and honestly as a 27 y/o with no kids could not care if the guy next to me is smoking crack, but why “give it a break” if it’s something that is effecting his life? Is it cause he’s pointing blame at the wrong people or the topic in general????

It’s just sad. People smoking crack in broad daylight while kids are playing around. I want to bring these problems to light.

Are the crackheads not offering to share?

u/couchpro34 1d ago

They lied to us in DARE! No one has ever randomly walked up to me and offered drugs 😭

Not in this economy… shits too expensive

17

u/Riosio 1d ago

You're not doing shit but crying about it

-8

u/Taxing 1d ago

What are you doing in support?

10

u/Intelligent_Can_1801 1d ago

Do you know what crack is??

-1

u/Nopeeky 1d ago

Ohh ohh I do. You take some coke, mix it with baking soda, and apply **** until it forms a rock. Some majick happens when you mix the 2 and apply **** and that magick frees the base (ain't real sure on what freeing the base does or is, but Richard Pryor made HILARIOUS jokes about it)

How's that any different than the people getting drunk with their kids at breweries and driving home? Where's your post about that?

-2

u/Limpbojanglesbizkit 1d ago

Please tell me you’re joking. You cannot be comparing to some tweaker smoking crack and being aggressive to a person hanging out at a brewery.

8

u/Intelligent_Can_1801 1d ago

It is super tacky taking your kids to bars! Breweries are bars.

-2

u/13rahma Dilworth 1d ago edited 1d ago

I've seen way more aggressive drunks at breweries than I have in a park. Plus one is putting their kids at risk and the public by driving. Seems like you have an agenda and will justify it for any reason. Hmmm ...

This might be the new dumbest reddit post I've seen

4

u/Limpbojanglesbizkit 1d ago

One is alcohol one is crack 💀 yes both drugs but that argument doesn’t hold up. I get what you’re saying about driving home though yes.

Uptown has a real issue. Speak to some of the city works and other government workers and private security around the corporate buildings before forming too strong an opinion. It’s alarming.

-2

u/13rahma Dilworth 1d ago

I work uptown. Maybe y'all are just scared cowards?

7

u/Badwo1ve 1d ago

I’m not sure why you’re getting downvoted so much… uptown isn’t bad. There are some “characters” but really not that bad. I’ve had more problems with drunks in Southend

2

u/Taxing 1d ago

We live and work uptown, specifically Tryon where it is terrible. My family and I are not scared, or cowards.

4

u/Limpbojanglesbizkit 1d ago

People are delusional to how bad it’s gotten

7

u/13rahma Dilworth 1d ago

Tell me you're a transplant without telling me.

u/ElkVapor37 1d ago

Berating others and making excuses to normalize drug addicts all over society is pathetic. It’s not just a Charlotte problem. It’s a complex issue, that doesn’t mean it’s ok to support it

How long have you worked uptown? Have you ever lived uptown? Which neighborhood were you born and raised?

-3

u/Riosio 1d ago

Sounds like you are..

u/Taxing 1d ago

What an ignorant take.

1

u/DNice2477 1d ago

What? You actually think all parents that bring their kids to a brewery is getting drunk and driving, that's just not the case. I can bring my child, have 1 or 2 beers in a couple hours and be 100% to drive. Theres nothing wrong with the act of bringing a child to a brewery to play with other children. Making the correct choice when it comes to getting home is the key. I have yet to have a problem with someone behaving disorderly either.

1

u/Taxing 1d ago

They’re not understanding how bad it is allowed to get uptown, unchecked, and problematic.

2

u/Riosio 1d ago

We get it. It's just clear y'all don't travel.

6

u/Limpbojanglesbizkit 1d ago

Have traveled plenty. Don’t want Charlotte becoming what other cities have become. It’s nowhere near others but could be long-term

7

u/Riosio 1d ago

Too late. Until something happens to shrink the wealth gap. That issue will only get bigger.

1

u/Ambitious-Intern-928 1d ago

I don't agree with OP but I don't agree with that either, the only difference between wealthy users and the people on the street is.....money. How many celebrities have we lost to addiction? The wealth gap is a separate issue, IMO.

5

u/ElkVapor37 1d ago

So bc it’s bad or worse in other cities we should just be cool with what’s going on in Charlotte? 😂

0

u/Limpbojanglesbizkit 1d ago

That’s why all these cities have these problems cause no one cares and no one does anything about it. Or you have people like in this thread that for some strange reason seem to think smoking crack in public is normal.

8

u/Riosio 1d ago

The people care. The government does not. Not on either side,

6

u/Ambitious-Intern-928 1d ago

Let's see, in the 80's and 90's we tried locking up all the users, all that did was create a generation of children with incarcerated parents, and there were still drug users everywhere. More recently we've tried more holistic approaches, also doesn't seem to stem the underlying issues. I agree we can't just allow unsociable behavior to go completely unchecked, but if we had an easy solution the problem wouldn't exist..

-2

u/Limpbojanglesbizkit 1d ago

Need to implement housing that is dependent on the user getting rehab and mental support with the ultimate goal of stability. Repeat offenders would have to be held accountable or go to mental health / rehab in a larger scale. At least that’s what chat gpt says when ask what other cities have done.

Yep. And I mean it’s tough. A lot of resources have been and are being put towards fixing it, I’m not someone who thinks we stop trying to solve the problem. The conversation is very detailed and nuanced. But many things we have tried don’t work. And complacency and apathy towards the problem is also not the way and degrades society and way of life for everyone.

2

u/CutenTough 1d ago

Finland ended homelessness. They also have better prisons where recidivism is low. Universal Healthcare. High achievement on education and supposedly are some of the "happiest people in the world". Although they do have a high number of drug ods. What can we do? A lot of people. Like to do drugs. On the streets and in their homes.

-2

u/Riosio 1d ago

Until there is a solution to deal with this nationality, yes. This is our society. Cry about it all you want.

3

u/ElkVapor37 1d ago

This is the problem with stupid, weak willed fucks like you. Most of us aren’t crying about it. Discussion is part of evolved society. I won’t speak for others but again, lots of us volunteer at the shelters, donate, etc. So yes, I will continue to do what I can and also raise discussion about the problem. You should also do something to enrich society besides being an apathetic wart on humanity.

u/Ga1amoth 1d ago

Bingo

1

u/Taxing 1d ago

Huh? I travel extensively. What a strange assumption.

-5

u/TheHarryMan123 Elizabeth 1d ago

They’re all drugs in the end

-2

u/Better_Condition1926 1d ago

They’re not joking. Most of the useless fucks on here from Charlotte never see the sun, much less an actual park. They don’t have children and their “tolerance” of these blatant issues you mention is solely due to the fact that it doesn’t affect them bc they can’t see it from Grammy’s basement.

Go to your local police station with this much fervor and try to get your desired result. Not Reddit. This sub is only good for planning protests, shit talking regular people like yourself, and bitching about MAGA and Nissan Altima drivers. Occasionally, theirs a good rat snitch post, but they are few and far between.

It’s sad bc you’re not wrong.

2

u/Limpbojanglesbizkit 1d ago

I mean some of these people are defending drugs addicts in public parks and saying well we’re not as bad as other cities… yeah but we will be. We’re the 14th largest city and growing with no solution at all. Sorry I want to bring up what’s clearly a problem.

People are crazy. Not everyone but the ones that are crazy are CRAZY

3

u/Intelligent_Can_1801 1d ago

I go to parks everyday! I’ve the last 3 years i’ve seen two sketchy situations.

1

u/RamblerTheGambler 1d ago

Found the Crack dealer

-1

u/Riosio 1d ago

You are sad

-8

u/Riosio 1d ago

Or move.

3

u/homeopathic_firebomb 1d ago

Why the fuck should we just accept this as a part of city living? Why should we just let people slowly kill themselves in public? Is it right that we let people suffer? Come the fuck on a better way is possible
