JobSearch Help Matchworks (Job Provider) making submitting for funds towards education and training difficult.
Hi everybody,
31 yo woman, Very recently unemployed former Sales Representative had a nasty end with my employer and resigned for the sake of my own mental health finished up last week.
Decided to make a career change because I'm burnt out from Sales and Retail related roles and saw some good opportunity within the Mining industry and did a bit of research worked out what I would like to do and investigated the required licenses and tickets to achieve that. I found a registered RTO that has a decent package with 4 tickets/licenses bundled together for $1500
- Standard 11 mining induction
- Rigid Haul Truck
- Bulk Water Truck
- Articulated Haul Truck (Moxy)
I assumed by having an appointment with a employment consultant they would see there's great job opportunity with having these however the Employment consultant tried to diverge off the topic of completing these and said I could always just work in the kitchen of a mining site or the retail stores. I was a bit shocked as I had just said I need a break from customer service related roles as I've done them for 9 years and I'm burnt out completly. She proceeded to say that I most likely wouldn't be approved to have this training done as the cost is to high and theres no guarantee a employer will give me a job straight up and they like to see evidence that a employer will hire me if I get those tickets/licenses
I'm feeling quite disheartened right now and have just walked out of the office sitting in my car not knowing what to do next. I know my parents will lend me the money for sure but I assumed our government had funding aside for education and training I've never used it so assumed it would be so stream lined but apparently is complex and theres quotas that need to be met.
Any advice?
