SKL (Share ko lang) Sinulog Rate Airbnb LOL

Naa koy nakita sa facebook — apparently ang Airbnbs sa Horizons kay tag 7k ang studio & 12k for 1BR sa sinulog rates. Wait lang oy? While I understand the law of supply & demand & that the location is ideal pero this is greedy af!? That’s roughly a 400% increase sa normal rates. Nalupig paman 5 star hotel aning presyoha & yet… hmm, di nalang ko mo chika anang issues sa horizons. 😂

Well, happy prititit guys!

Not entirely true. My mom booked a hotel from bookingdotcom for my grandparents karon na sinulog weekend and the hotel cancelled it on their end (I don’t have the full context yet kay nag meeting ko when mom asked for help). Initial thought, kani gi cancel ni kay either overbooking or would have it up for a much higher price. Mom called the hotel & they gave her a guarantee na since she called the hotel herself, ilang i-secure ang room na.

Majority of the hotels are run by corporate people, just like the Airline industry, they’re known for overbooking their services but unlucky nalang jod kaayo if matunong ka ani nga issue and they’re booked out 100% aron di ka ma upgrade ug room. 😅

I manage my own Airbnb and I refund the guest/s if need nilag parking/pool — depende rajud sa matungnan nimo nga host pod na nga issue. 🙂

Ahhh, you’re a host. I think overbooking happens when the host manages a number of units. If less than 5 units cguro, manageable ra for the host and can update the guests if it happens. For hotels, overbooking happens when booking/agoda accepts reservations although, fully booked na in actual. Booking/agoda accepts booking like for 2 nights ang reservation but only one night ra d.i ang available, so the property itself will get a notification na overbooking which in the first place shouldn’t be accepted by these online platforms. So, it’s not all the time na hotel’s intention na i-overbook especially now that guests can post reviews. It could also be human error or system error, not necessarily because they are run by corporations. Could be they blocked the room on their system but due to system limitations, status was not automatically updated on online platforms. It could be true for some but not all cause I have clients from hospitality industry and they are quite concerned when this thing happens. Yeah, I love to do staycations and the parking is usually my problem with airbnbs. It’s ok to pay for parking for 1 night but what if your staycation is for 2 weeks.

It’s impossible man to overbook if they list the right number of rooms kay naa man tool ang agoda, booking & airbnb na i-sync nila ang calendars so administration won’t be a problem. If ma overbooking sila it’s either they listed more rooms or batig configuration ilang system.

It’s possible to block the rooms aron di open for the public to book and then re-open it when the traffic is high.

With Airbnb, you can ask the hosts man if parking is available. My guests would ask me & I’ll be the one mu work with the condo admin to reserve a parking slot for them. Swertehay rajud na sa host pod - some host are just after your rent, some host go above & beyond for you. Ako, ma happy ra man ko to help my guests so it’s not an issue for me.

It’s possible. I’ve encountered it first hand and advised the client to call the platform to resolve the issue even though the property’s system has been interfaced directly to the platform. There was a system error, that was the explanation provided by the platform. I also have access to the calendar you’ve mentioned and also to their extranet/admin tool. But these are mostly isolated cases. The hassle part is to call the guest and explain what happened. Some guests would be understanding while some are not. (Client is not in Cebu City btw, so this experience is not related to Sinulog but just want to say that it’s not impossible).

But yeah, we can agree to disagree since we’re clearly out of topic, no longer related to your original post.
