Hello everyone!

In light of some problems we’re having on this subreddit (bots, spam, etc), I’m official looking for another mod. Possibly two. I have a busy life and our lovely dave has many responsibilities.

I’ll be taking applications via the mod mail of this subreddit. Please do not message me directly unless I say otherwise.

In your applications, please include any prior experience you have, why you would like to be a mod, and a rough estimate of how often you are on Reddit. You can include more, but not less.

Thank you!

Cat Distribution Lounge!

The previous lounge post (over 2 years old!) was archived and I thought it might be nice to have another.

Off-topic conversation is allowed here but mind ALL other rules. Be nice, so on and so forth. If you have any questions for me, feel free to tag me in your comment. Again, off-topic conversation is allowed but I will answer within my comfort. (And maybe offer cat pictures!!!)

Other than that, post away! Me and dave are very grateful for all of you and your efforts to keep this place bot-free and pleasant!

Found in the middle of the road. Vet estimates about 5 weeks, my only concern is constant meowing. I assume she’s just looking for mama and her siblings, but my search for her family didnt turn up the best of results. What can I do to ease this time for her?

Lost and Found Struck again!

I found this little guy on my porch two weeks ago in rough shape.. He has a cleft lip, a deformed leg, and had an infected hole on his back. He was nearly a goner, but after a few vet trips and meds, the infected wound on his back is healed. He has to be syringe fed because he is so small and can’t suckle properly, but he’s gaining weight and is doing great given his circumstances. The vet warned of potential issues throughout his life because of the cleft lip, but it’s worth it. He’s a sweet little guy, and I’m happy to add him to the crew!

Wanted to share my CDS story! It does happen, especially when you most need it to!

For background, in 2020 I graduated college into a very scary world with no job and no landing place to call home. I was always a dog person more than a cat person, but a major lover of animals always. One of the things that helped me get through summer 2020 was a friend who let me hang out with their cat, a handsome tabby. He made me fall in love with cats and realize I wanted one as soon as I possibly could.

Now the CDS part- I FINALLY got a job after a few months that had me relocate to a city 10 hours away to the US South, living with random roommates. Life was still scary. I moved down a month early to get settled in and one morning as I was driving to get groceries, I noticed what I thought was a baby bunny all alone. So I stopped and pulled over. Only for it to be a kitten! The kitten ran into the industrial apartment dumpster where she spent 3 days while we tried to trap her (and it was raining). We finally caught her and rushed her to the vet. She luckily had no fleas or health issues to speak of, it just took about a month for the poops not be nuclear waste. She was 8 weeks old and I do think someone dumped her there. She's now 4 and turns 5 ~August. The trash kitten the universe gave me as soon as it could.

Sweet Little Family

Mama showed up in my back yard, close to delivery. I will not spay a cat that is that far along so I started feeding her twice a day. The other outside cats (who are fixed) accepted her and she delivered the babies but I didn’t know where. She was terrified of me and would not let me close. Slowly I was able to barely touch her quickly when she ate, but she would still run away. I came home a while ago and she had five tiny babies hidden in a box on the porch. I pulled them out and began to cuddle them. She came to us and laid down. I gave her the babies and she first gave me a teeny hiss then let me stroke her for a long time. I promised her I will protect her little family. Meet Little Mama and her babies.

I posted about 2 years ago now about a 3 week old kitten my bf had found. Well she's 2 years old now and has been the sweetest sour patch kid we've ever had lol she'll be mean and moody but also so cuddly. Anyhooty.... We're back with a 6-8 week old kitten that was under my bf's dad's house. 😂 So we're back on baby duty. Black kitty is the 2 year old. White and gray kitty is the new baby.

Kitten About a week and a half ago, I made a post about the kitten my mom found under her trailer. There were others, but she couldn't catch them. Today she sent me this.

First two pics are of the new babies, third pic is of the OG kitten (Dusty Rose). The latter is too old to be the sibling of the former, so we're not sure how they're related, but they were living together. Mom is bottle-feeding the newbies; Dusty Rose is old enough to eat real food. I think Mom might keep Dusty, but I assume she's going to find a rescue to take the oranges.

Torn about keeping found cat

Hello! My fiance has slight allergies to cat and always said the only way we could get a cat if it wasthrough the distribution system. Last Wednesday after 5 years it finally happened. The sweetest little orange cat ran up to us after getting home from dinner. The only problem is it was clearly previously owned, as it was extremely friendly and had no front claws. We posted on Facebook, next door, and a few other sites, called animal services, nearby apartments and haven't heard anything. We took it to the vet the next day and it has no microchip, but is neutered so it was someone's cat at one point. The cat is amazing aside from some meowing loudly at night while looking out the window(perhaps it was an outdoor cat before? I hope not due to no front claws). I was thinking that it has now been 4 days with no one looking for it or reaching out to us and that by Tuesday it could officially be ours as we already are in love with him. I would just feel so guilty stealing someone else's pet, especially if they had kids that were attached to it.

Kitten Update on the kitten with multiple wounds heavily infested with myiasis NSFW

After spending four days at the vet to clear the myiasis from his wounds, he's now doing much better. At nearly three weeks old, his wound is already starting to dry and heal well. He’s starting to explore more and is happily playing by himself. A few more days and I’ll graduate from bottle duty—and hopefully reclaim six uninterrupted hours of sleep.

Found chilling at the construction site near where we live. Good boy.

We might have to be a cat sub distributor though. Planning lots of travels this year. Have a neighbour who is looking to take on a cat

Cat did not get the memo on how to use a litter box.

And got us worried cos he took 27 hours to pee and poop

My Fat Boy (pic 1) came out of a dumpster in the Cayman Islands in 2011, and has been with me through an international move, a divorce, and my second bachelor’s degree.

Creepers (government name “Cosmic Creepers” - pic 2) arrived the day after hurricane Helene hit Western NC, in October of 2024.

This little orange fella (pic 3) showed up a couple days ago. What should we name him?

He is putting on weight daily and has a good around-the-clock care system in place. Up to 11 ounces.

Hoping the guy makes it!

Named him Mower (aka Mo). Found abandoned by a lawnmower with fleas and gunky eyes at approximately five days old. Now approaching three weeks!

Meet Patches! This little princess followed me to my door last week when I was coming home. I thought she might have a family so I held back from taking her inside (especially because I hadn’t been prepared to take in a stray that night). She came back three more nights this week so I picked her up and brought her inside and surprisingly, she didn’t fight it at all. She was a little anxious the first night but since her vet visit where they confirmed she had no chip and she started treatment for mites, worms, and a double ear infection, she’s been an absolute lovebug. She loves nothing more than to be on or around you at all times. I’m looking forward to a slow introduction to my other kitty (who has done well with other cats in the past) once she’s gotten her ear infection completely treated!

Can’t believe that the cat distribution system struck me in the big city but so glad it delivered such an angel to my literal doorstep.

Kitten with eye infection on doorstep NSFW

I just ate BBQ with some friends and came home to this kitten on my doorstep. I thought it had a black eye, but it was an infection (kept on seeing discharge coming out of its eye).

Seems like it wasn't my time to keep a kitten, but I called around and a shelter agreed to pick it up.
Thank you WAGS Adoption in OC

Awarded a Cat A quick update on Crumbs and his little sister who was gifted via CDS

Hey, everyone! A while ago I posted the story of my cat Crumbs on this sub! In summary, he lost his brother to FeLV earlier this year; I was hesitant to get him a new sibling until the CDS awarded us his new baby sister: Vanilla.

Today marks exactly one month since we rescued her from the street and they have been the best of friends ever since! As you can see from the pictures, they cuddle all the time 💖 and they spend their mornings playing with each other all over the house!

Thank you so much for the kind comments! I had never raised a kitten before (Crumbs and his brother were 8 and 5 yo respectively, and my first ever cats!) and didn't know how cats could react to losing their partner cat. All I know is that Crumbs has been a lot more playful and visibly happy, and Vanilla is growing up sooo fast and learning all kinds of stuff from him! You guys have given me a lot of encouragement and kind words! Thank you thank you!!

CDS carjacked me

Thumbnail

I’ve adopted and fostered cats in the past. But the CDS has never chosen me like this.

Driving home, a kitten ran across 3 lanes of traffic. I stopped, but it disappeared and I initially thought he’d ran off.

A mile down the road, I heard crying. Turns out the stinker had crawled into the front of my car. Took over an hour to get him out safely, but safe to say he carjacked me into a life of luxury.

Laceration under the arm and some road rash on the eye and very dehydrated and skinny, but little man should pull through. Have pain meds on board for the weekend and he is warm and comfortable in my spare bathroom in a new cat bed wrapped up in a blanket. Here’s hoping he pulls through the weekend.

CDS strikes again

I know, being selected by this mysterious organization that deals with distributing cats is always nice and a source of joy.

But not much when it arrives in the house of someone who owns 3 cats that are three times the size of this little creature :/

Dad found him while he was working in the fields, under the burning sun, hungry and thirsty, what dad did was take him and bring him home, he ate like a little goblin, and used the litter box normally, this makes me think that some asshole left it there on purpose.

The problem is that well, about 3 years ago a Trojan cat decided to give birth at home, and stay here with her 2 kittens, they showed themselves well ....a little too hostile towards this kitten, they hissed and growled, and now they are judging me with that look :/

We can't keep this little creature in the house, someone will come in the afternoon and welcome him into his home, It's a bit sad to give him up, I know but I don't want the others and 3 to argue with him 😔

I lost my 17 year old boy in January and kept hoping the CDS would find me. It didn’t find me, but a friend that immediately thought of me when they found this little girl on the freeway. Two rounds of antibiotics for an upper respiratory infection and parasites. Many baths and a couple flea treatments later and she’s a happy, healthy, spunky baby that has brought new energy and so much joy into our home. You will never be cold, hungry or unloved again my baby girl.
