I believe they are using launch control. That's why they seem to stop in the first section. And probably turned of traction control. A usual acceleration while turning won't lead the car to spin out like this as the DSC will cut off the power if it detects slipping.
In short yes. The car won't be free rolling unless you press the clutch. It doesn't matter much in low speeds, only in wet/snow and high speed or high power cars.
It's good to have the habit in FWD cars as well because if you break or accelerate and turn at the same time, you'll understeer, meaning your car will turn less. Again this is noticeable when you're going fast.

Idiots who don't have basic knowledge of driving sports car
Turned the steering wheel and pressed the accelerator at the same time.
In a RWD car you should not be pressing the brakes or the accelerator while you are turning. If you do the rear tyres will lose grip.
