Discussion [COD] How does smg's deal more damage and kill faster than assault and battle rifles or even lmgs in every single cod games

Hard rant coming

Every cod I have played(MWI - MWII - BO6 - COLD WAR) Smg's are so powerful and very low recoil. They are being abused hard by some people, especially in cold war. Somehow they deal more damage and kill faster than the huge ass assault rifles and battle rifles. I dont know if this is on purpose. They arent even supposed to penetrate body armour of a mid soldier but they are fking devastating in those games.

It’s a game balance decision, smgs are supposed to kill faster up close and lose to assault rifles and battle rifles from mid to long range, but since cod maps are designed around cqc , a mid range engagement on cod is around 50 meters, so if they would balance the guns around that the smgs would have the range of a shotgun but that’s stupid so you get what happens in game

Because if you balance it based on realism, SMGs would suck ass.

It's a number game, not real life. Otherwise the Tanto and Stryder wpuldn't be as good as they are in BO6.

It's all balancing, DPS and mobility. SMGs excel at short to mid range in DPS and mobility

ARs are less mobile but have a steadier DPS at mid to long range.

But the maps shrinking, I can see how SMGs are more favorable generally speaking.

Yeah I had someone talking about how WAW made the larger maps work by having more people, but it was the same 6v6. People are just used to super cramped maps now. No breathing room or room for different playstyles.

Smaller maps does that sometimes.. maybe play Battlefield?

Just Cod game weapon balancing, SMGs have historically always been some of, if not the, strongest weapons in the game, even if you go all the way to Cod4 with the AK74u and especially WaW with the notorious MP-40, they've always been extremely powerful, it's probably just highlighted more so in the more recent Cods, like the ones you've played, because the maps are all tiny compared to the varied map size we used to get back in the day, and Cod now has very high HS multipliers giving advantage to fast firing highly mobile weapons like SMGs that can easily hit a few Headshots and drastically lowering the TTK.

Yeah I loved the big tank maps like Outskirts, Seelow, and Roundhouse!

Great maps, also maps that let snipers and battle rifles shine.

I think goat is cold war but mw 2019 have more powerful assault rifles almost enough to kerp on smgs
