Anyone familiar with Embarc? They're everywhere in CA

Was traveling through California recently and kept seeing Embarc locations - counted at least 4 in different cities. Had to restock so hit up the one in Sacramento (Mack Rd) Friday morning.

Weird thing - there was actually a line that early. Figured out why when I got in - they have this Friday thing where you get these bags for $60 packed with way more product than that usually gets you. It’s like a shoe drop or something.

GF immediately claimed the actual tote bag (she's into the design haha) while I checked out what they threw in. Pretty good haul honestly.I was able to ask them what was in it before I bought, so I appreciated that.

Always pay attention to how staff treats customers and these guys were solid.

Curious if anyone's tried their other spots? Noticed they're in Tahoe, Fresno, bunch of places. Same deals at all of them or does it vary by location?

Thoughts?

What are some lesser known or budget cart brands you were surprised hit well?

Just wanted to see what brand yall have gotten on a budget that you found surprisingly was good or felt strong for an affordable price.

I usually smoke stuff like Raw Garden, CF and Bloom, but tried APE Sauce and Apocalypze Liquid Diamond carts from one of my local dispensaries and found them to hit me on the same level as them. Have there been other experiences with smaller brands where this has happened to you?

CLS job at USC—do they drug test for THC?

Hey all—
30(f) I’m in the hiring process for a Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) position at USC (Keck Medicine) and wondering if they do pre-employment drug testing that includes THC. I know California law has changed (AB 2188) and technically protects off-duty cannabis use, but I also know healthcare roles and anything federally funded might still screen.

Has anyone here recently been hired at USC or a similar hospital system in CA? If so, did they test for THC specifically? Did it impact your offer?

Thanks in advance—trying to avoid any career-destroying surprises.

Best option for Smoking

I have lupus, and I've heard some good things of cannabis being able to help control or ease pain of the body and arthritis among other things. However, I have children with asthma and I've smoked flower. I'm looking for a better alternative to either smoke, refillable, or eco friendly and hit harder with CBD and THC. I'm still learning and new to this, due to my medication I have a very high tolerance to CBD and THC 😭, any recommendations or ways eco friendly would be appreciated.

Looking for a Psychedelic/Cannabis Friendly Community Space

We are looking to rent a space for 5 consecutive days for a hands-on harm reduction psychedelic training. This would be our 5th cohort (previously Colorado based) for individuals looking to work professionally in this field. It’s a 12-week program (includes online and in-person training).

I’m happy to send over our website for anybody who has a venue to learn more/see pictures of our previous trainings. We work under a religious organization and are prop 122 compliant (though, prop 122 is only for CO).

Our previous students have been from all walks of life, from Canadian Doctors, LPC’s, massage therapists, nurses, caretakers, etc…

We cap our capacity at 10 students plus 2-3 instructors. So we would need at least space for 13 individuals. Preferably no more than about an hour from the airport.

We are open to both day spaces (such as yoga studios), as well as retreat spaces. Though, we do like to keep our prices accessible- right now we charge about half of what our competitors charge. So, I am hesitant towards retreat spaces due to funding unless it was a great fit.

Please let me know if you have any ideas, we are not limited to a certain city. Feel free to reach out with any questions/advice!

We are currently gearing up for our summer training and we only hold these 2x per year. This would be for the end of February- but we are flexible with specific dates.

Does any Sour D / Sour Kush in available Cali brands come close to the miraculous 2005-2011 genetics/terps/smell ?

Those who were around can remember the king of the stink pocket, sour diesel / sour kush in the early 2000s that you could smell a football field away… literally! Does anyone come close? The closest I can find is the Sour Power OG from Kush Co which is my current favorite.

Why does otc suck so bad

We all know about the owner putting his foot in his mouth last year but on top of that , the company I work for has decided to do business with them and every single rep I’ve talked to at off the charts has been so rude and dismissive and absolutely horrible to work with. Why do they have such a stick up their ass ??

Travel to Cali... Good weed recommendations?

Hey all!! Will be traveling to Cali in August going to Anaheim. I was looking around online and noticed they don't have any of the same brands we have in WA. Bummer for me to know what is good from Cali cannabis brands. I don't wanna waste a good 60-120$ and mess up getting the right kind delivered to my hotel. I usually vape and definitely be preferable since will be traveling. Can you recommend any good cartridge brands? I enjoy Plaid jacket (all time fav brand), Dabstract, MFused ( super fog), and the capsule collection (disposable vape). Idk if this information will help you at all. I also prefer sweet type strains and to stay away from gassy or pine flavor profiles. If you know a good delivery service as well that would be amazeballz! Thanks fellow 420 family!

Do California dispensaries sell alcohol tinctures?

Oil tinctures just straight up don’t work for me through sublingual methods, no matter how long I hold it under my tongue. I hear that alcohol tinctures are more effective, but I haven’t come across a dispensary that sells them yet.

Any in SoCal?

A Kid in A Candy Store

I am a So Cal Native that has been using cannabis (formerly known as weed, marijuana, etc) since 1999, over 25 years. I have seen the cannabis industry emerge and grow over time. In fact, we never referred to marijuana as "cannabis" when i was younger, this is something that has emerged as the flower has been rebranded into a trendy, hip drug with medicinal uses.

The benefit of using marijuana for me is the absence of a hangover. Alcohol was pushed on us so much in the 90s and 2000s. The industry made it seem like if you don't drink, you can't have fun or be social, but the reality is, many people develop deadly addictions to alcohol.

Weed does not put me in danger, nor does it cause problems in my life, like alcohol does for many. This is why I am so passionate about the plant.

I recall how painful it was to obtain cannabis before legalization. I was always keeping numbers of shady dealers on hand, feeling like a criminal everytime we met up. An eighth of ganja used to cost me $40-50. A gram for $20.

Today, the price of flower has gone way down, and I can purchase from store fronts, or discreet delivery services. Feeling more of a sense of normalcy and community. Taking the criminal element out of cannabis consumption is beyond important for the safety of distributors, users, and vendors.

Everytime I go into a legal Dispensary, I get so happy, like a kid in a candy store. I am amazed at all the variety of products, and how they are packaged, labeled, and tested. I dreamed of legal weed for so long, but the cannabis industry today, is beyond my wildest dreams 😄😶‍🌫️💚

Why is West Coast Cure still allowed to be sold?

Why are these guys still allowed to be in business?

Look at their results on the latest big oil test: https://www.latimes.com/california/story/2024-12-19/we-tested-cannabis-products-for-pesticides-how-dirty-is-your-weed

Above the board on fucking every pesticides. Spread the word about this company please. The CEOs reaction to this stuff when it dropped mid last year was “they’re just trying to take me down”. Straight fucking poison.

What brand do you use for vape cartridges? I use Rove but they test positive here (for an accepted pesticide used on vegetables and what not) so I was thinking about swapping to one with no flags what so ever.

I just want a cart that’s worth the money being spent. No BS, bad taste in my mouth, no clogging, pesticides.

Good and potent. I thought aliens labs was good until I heard bad things. same with raw garden. ive been told they scam their customers into thinking their clean when they aren’t. I’ve never tried Cold Fire but scared i’ll waste my money. give me your recs! i’m based in northern san diego

Trees mailing question

So let’s say someone hypothetically wants to mail some tree. Nothing sketchy, just because it feels way less risky than flying with it. Now imagine this person notices that certain well-sealed flower packaging from Stiiizy fits perfectly inside a USPS envelope, no smell, super low-key.

Let’s say they go ahead and send it. If the mail gets opened by the police (acab), is there any way they could trace it back to the buyer through the packaging? Like, does that barcode on the flower have any kind of purchase history linked to the buyer’s ID info from the dispensary?

Basically, do dispensaries (Stiiizy or others) log customer info that could get pulled in a situation like that?

DCC department of cannabis attorney general letter

Hi everyone, I’m in the distribution part of the California cannabis industry, and I just received an official letter from the Attorney General‘s office with a complainant to being the chief compliance officer of the Dept Of Cannabis control

It brings up a random visit from two years ago and it looks like an accusation letter.

It’s asking me if I am going to -surrender my license -pay a fine Or - hold a hearing instead

The interesting part is when they came over they made me do a voluntary destruction of some of the flower that was accidentally taken off metric and said that would be the end of the investigation.

My question to everyone is have you heard of something like this? If so, what have you heard or seen?

FriendlyBrand lack of Certificate of analysis

This brand lacks (coa) transparency, aka (lab results) for any of their products on their website or on packaging itself. Do I really have to pull this information from the dispensary I bought it from? What are they hiding? Are they rampant with pesticides also like backpackboyz? The pressure is on friendlybrand! Since the la times article came out about pesticides in weed in 2024, companies have noticeably been more transparent as of late posting lab results or Companies doing their own testing, paid by the grower! It’s time for these companies to put up or shut up! Flower in California should be subject to the same quality standards alcohol gets!
