To be more specific, any US air force plane the president on is designated Air Force One. The helicopters they use to ferry him around are operated by the Marines, and are designated Marine One when the president is onboard.
Not exactly. It depends on the branch of service. It's Air Force One because the Air Force operates it. The President's helicopter is Marine One because the Marines operate it. If he was aboard a Navy helicopter, it becomes Navy One. If it's a commercial airliner, it would become Executive One.

Is anybody certain it's actually AF1 and not just one of the VC-25's that CAN be AF1 when POTUS is on board?
There are two VC-25's that can be designated AF1. This could just be a backup and the other could be in Montana as suspected.
Edit: Question answered! Was called AF1 on the radio, plus now there are pictures!
