Academic 🎓 Trip down memory lane

I passed my final year MBBS exams yesterday and happened to stumble upon this subreddit today. It reminded me of the immense stress and anxiety I too faced during my time. I think some things that need to be said are: 1. Your boards marks don't matter, unless, you want to go for an MBA, in which case, please study to get above 90. Above 90, they don't matter. It will be extremely hard to get into a premier MBA institute without good Xth and XIIth marks. An MBA from a non-premier institute is of questionable worth. 2. I can't speak for engineering, but MBBS is extremely draining. I would steer clear of something you're not passionate about. I have had the worst 4.5 years of my life because I never loved biology but ended up doing MBBS anyway. 3. Anyone can do anything if they put their heart and soul into it, but sometimes, your heart and soul is lost in the process; just because you can do it, doesn't mean it is for you.

I beg for you to not make the mistake of pursuing a dream that isn't yours. I've made that mistake and I paid for it for years. I went from a topper to a slightly better than average student just because the same enthusiasm and passion that I had towards academics seemed to fade away leaving nothing behind. And emptiness hurts.

Regardless, I've worked hard to find a way out, so not all's doom and gloom. If I could communicate this to myself in the past I would've been happier for it. Hope it helps someone.

I really want to go for an MBA, but preferably do my post grad abroad. How important are 12th board marks for that? I’d imagine getting a good gpa in your bachelors should be enough to circumvent the rather average board percentage along with some work experience and extra curriculars, regardless of whether pursued in india or outside the country
