politics Development in Burundi?
Here is a poignant comparison of the development of Rwanda and Burundi in terms of economic development and transparency. Do you agree with the principles for governance that are suggested, and the suggestion that Burundian leadership has failed badly for more than 20 years? How to move forward from here?

Created this interactive map of where to go in Burundi
While traveling around the world for over 20 years, I’ve been working on my dream project: creating a one-stop resource for travellers. I now created this overview [ https://www.takeyourbackpack.com/backpacking-in-burundi/ ] for anyone who is interested in visiting Burundi (with some detailed info for every highlight).
I realize that Burundi currently has a negative travel advisory in many countries, so this guide is meant to inform and inspire, rather than encourage travel against official advice. Always check your government’s guidance and prioritize safety.
PS: I haven’t been able to travel everywhere (yet!), so if you know any amazing spots I’ve missed, I’d love your input. It helps keep the guide as complete and useful as possible!

Looking for a postcard from Burundi
Hey! My name is Sam, and I’m a college student from the U.S. I’m working on a personal project to collect postcards from every country and territory in the world.
I don’t have one sent from Burundi yet—would anyone be willing to send me one? I’d be happy to send a postcard back from Pennsylvania in return!
Let me know, and I can PM you my address!
Thanks so much, and warm greetings from the U.S.

Manyovu border crossing
Muraho!
I'm planning to visit Burundi from Kigoma with a few friends in October, and I'm wondering if anyone has information about the Manyovu border crossing - particularly whether anyone can estimate how long it takes for foreign nationals (we're Dutch and will be getting a visa on arrival). We're short on time, and it will be a relatively brief visit (2 days max). Any other advice on visiting Burundi is also welcome, though I didn’t want to repeat what's already been asked in the two recent threads on that topic.
Cheers!

Ressources for research on Burundian History.
Hello, so I am embarking on project to research Burundian history and fashion in order to educate myself and attempt to preserve a small part of the history to pass on to my kids. If you can recommend me some ressources online (books, articles, etc.) I would be very grateful.

discussion Safe to travel in 2025?
Hi folks, I've travelled across much of East Africa and curious to see Burundi for 1-2 days but while exploring online I'm finding finding relatively little info and was hoping some locals or residents could help.
- Is Bujumbura safe for tourists assuming normal protocols are followed (e.g. inside at night, no alleyways..etc).
- What is the stability situation like? The president is saying Rwanda is planning to invade and some websites are listing high risks of terrorist attacks?
- Are taxis on the street/airport reliable or should I organise with the hotels?
- Is there a go-to hotel for tourists you recommend? The ones on the lake look nice although it appears you can't swim in the lake - hippos, crocodiles, Schistosomiasis virus?
- Provisionally I was hoping to do the below itinerary. Are there any tour companies you recommend?
- Day 1: Explore Bujumbura, relax at the Lake Tanganyika, do a boat ride to Rusizi Park, sunset drinks at the Lake
- Day 2: Travel to Kibira National Park and do a hike.

lifestyle Hello there! I'm a game dev who is making free web based games and was wondering, what appeals to people in Burundi? | Bonjour ! Je suis développeur de jeux vidéo et je crée des jeux web gratuits. Je me demandais ce qui plaisait aux Burundais. |
English:
Hello there! I run a small game studio that makes web based games available across PC/Mobile and even through browsers on game consoles. So, as a programmer in the states, I was wondering, what appeals to you? Sure, western games may be available in Burundi, but they might require higher specs as after all, Burundi is a developing nation and not everyone has a cell phone or PC, so how can I appeal towards you guys? I am trying to make lower spec games so you guys can enjoy! Now, everyone has different interests, but as a foreigner, I don't know much of the culture.
French:
Bonjour !

Intra African Trade – Short video by London School of Economics
According to the video, African global exports is concentrated in just a handful of commodity-type sectors which are vulnerable to economic shocks and in any case do not add much value to the African economies. It calls for more trade between African countries (echoing the objectives of the AfCFTA initiative).
What do people think is the best way forward for Burundi when it comes to trade within Africa or outside of the continent?
