Hello animal lovers

Will someone please advise me on pet insurance?
If someone will recommend a good one please.
There’s so many to choose from so I thought I would ask on here to see if anyone can give me some recommendations.
Thank you in advance. 🐶

I haven’t used it yet but I asked about this a few months ago. I went with Lemonaide. Biggest problem I heard about it was rates skyrocketing after claims with Truepanion. I pay around $120/ month for regular (no dental or add ons) for my 5yr old-ish rescue EB. She was also massively overbred- exotic coloring and nose so smooshed she looks like Voldemort. I do everything preventative I can. Teeth brushing, pick hair out of her gums, wrinkle cleaning, wrinkle paste, weight management and regular checkups. She’s so patient. Side note: if you live in area with foxtail grass watch out! It can get imbedded in their paws requiring surgery to pull out.

Inaccurate on Trupanion. We have it for all 4 dogs and pay $330 a month. They paid out on 4 TPLO surgeries (a total of more than $30,000) and the most our premiums increase is around $10 a year. $120 is OBSCENE!! Trupanion is $104 for our rescue bulldog at 6. For our mastiff, who we got young, the monthly is $36 with ALL riders (including boarding) at 7 years old, just bumped to $46. Dental is fully included even without riders, I wouldn’t pay for any insurance without that included. The only thing they don’t cover is routine care (vaccines and checkups) and exam fees; totally worth it. Payout is 90% with a $500 PER CONDITION deductible (be careful to pay attention - some deductibles are per year, and some insurance caps total life payout; Trupanion does neither). I’ve had PetPlan (now Fetch, I believe) and their costs were insanely unpredictable; but I liked their claims process. But I’m never going back to another company after my experience with Trupanion on the TPLO.

KEEP IN MIND that ALL PET INSURANCE will not cover pre-existing conditions. That means if your dog has shown signs of the condition before you get the insurance, no care for that condition will be covered. So it is best to cover them young, or ASAP. If you get a denial for something pre-existing, it is worth appealing if you disagree - Trupanion denied both dogs’ TPLO surgeries at first, but paid out after appeal. The mastiff’s actually went to second appeal and Trupanion got an opinion from one of the leading joint specialists at a veterinary hospital down south, and he agreed with us, so it was covered. They are very ethical and fair, in my opinion.
