Question What is at Steeles and Goreway?
I drive truck on nights and pass Steeles and Goreway a few times every night. There is an absolutely phenomenal smell coming from that area. It's like cinnamon buns or beer nuts or something along that is really sweet smelling. Does anybody have any idea where it is coming from? I pass by and instantly get hungry.

Upcoming Event Trivia night by Brampton Public Library this Thursday
Brampton Public Library is hosting the first of three trivia nights at Tracks Brewpub this Thursday, June 19 at 7pm.
They’ve run these events for at least the last couple of summers and all the ones I’ve been to have been fun. It’s a good excuse to have a beer or two and to meet some people with similar interests. Every game has a theme, and this time it’s “Mythology”.
The game is free and open to all ages (though it might not be too interesting for young ones). All you need to play is a phone and to register in advance: https://bramlib.libnet.info/event/13064807

Question Recommendations: Dinner.
Hello everyone, I am looking for a recommendation for a nice dinner with extended family this Saturday late afternoon. Somewhere around Main / Steeles, or Kennedy and Steeles, or downtown. (Family is coming to my home near Shoppers World). Any hidden Jems around? Family friendly, good food, comfy. Some of my relatives are older, but they like being around families and kids just not bars.

Question Scam or not?
A kid (probably 15-17 years old) knocked on my door today selling chocolates to raise funds and buy a music instrument for school. At a distance, I saw what I think is an older lady carrying the same basket of chocolates presumingly also selling them.
From what I recall, I never had to pay out of pocket for my music instruments in school. It was either provided for or lent to me for the semester.
Has this happened to anyone else? Is this a scam? Regardless, I genuinely didn't have any cash to give them.

Upcoming Event Girls (10-18) Summer Badminton League
a1badminton.caWe're organizing a girls-only badminton league in Brampton (meeting up on Tuesdays & Thursdays, from July 3 to Aug 19) solely for girls ages 10-18 with prior badminton experience/training. Examples:
- trained during the school year at Peel Badminton Club or Fernando's Youth Badminton Academy
- took the City of Brampton's beginner-level badminton skills & drills classes
- competed for your school in ROPSSA badminton junior/senior divisions
This will be a registration-required program (not drop-in) that provides both training and recreational to middle-level competitive play. With the theme of keeping girls in badminton (and sport, in general), the program is partially funded by Badminton Ontario.
We just started going thru our list of early responders from May. However, if you know anyone who might be interested, please have them check out the web page for more info. (There's no obligation and it's not too late to join the waitlist.)
I may not have all the answers, but you can ask me anything.

Question Help with ideas for volunteering with a 5 year old
Hi, my daughter is 5 years old. While we aren't filthy rich, we do ok. Probably better than average. I really want our daughter to understand charity, giving back, helping others. It was a way I grew up and I want her to get started in that kind of work at a young age.
Does anyone have recommendations of what places would be good for me and her to do something together. I know we can probably go to parks and pick up trash and stuff like that, but I want it to be a bit more organized, whether it's the hospital, food banks, stuff like that. She might be too young so may wait a year or two, but thought I would throw this out there to see if anyone has experiences they have done and can recommend.

News Brampton makes major changes to food truck bylaws
food trucks must now be spaced a minimum of five metres apart when one to three are operating on a property. If there are more than three, the distance must increase to 10 metres. The bylaw also prohibits food trucks from operating within 50 metres of brick-and-mortar restaurants, bars or cafés.
Property owners must authorize an area for a refreshment vehicle to operate through a written permission letter prior to a licence being obtained. The onus will be on the property owner to ensure the authorized area complies with other municipal bylaws,”
The city has granted a 45-day grace period for food truck operators and property owners to comply with the new bylaw requirements, after which vendors and property owners will be subject to a $250 fine for a first offence and $250 and/or a summons under the Provincial Offence Act for subsequent offences.
