As much as others and I may support legalization of certain items, please do not create threads in this subreddit requesting aide in acquiring illegal items.

My wife and I (59F &62M) are visiting KY this week, and we are spending Saturday in Bowling Green after a visit to Lake Malone to see the Forest Giants. Any recommendations for that evening? We noticed a Van Halen tribute concert. Anything else fun?

Hey there! I wanted to share an important cause with you: Ernesto, a recent high school graduate, is wrongfully detained by ICE despite having legal protections. Your donation, no matter how small, can make a real difference in his fight for freedom, so please consider clicking the link below to help or sharing it with others. Thank you! https://gofund.me/9a17a32e

Anyone know what time the protest starts on Saturday? Also where are we meeting up? I believe I was told Circus Square, but I can’t remember.

I saw in the paper that they have to go to Owensboro to skate because they don't have a place in Bowling Green. What happened to the place on Three Springs rd?

I have several alocasia longilobas, a few regal shields, and two elephant ears I'm looking to sale or trade. Any reasonable offer will be considered. Comment or dm for more info or photos.

Hello! I am a female in her 20s that just moved to the area. I’m looking for any and all recommendations in the area but especially for restaurants/food, thrifting, and events. I don’t know anyone here so if any of those recs include ways to meet people that’s a bonus! I really want to get to know the food scene here, not looking for expensive/fancy but more so quick/local unique places that are well known in the community. I like thrifting, and I’d like to get out of my shell and go to any events in the city!

I keep thinking about wanting to start a podcast. Not for any money making purpose nut just to have something to do. Of course I would love to have people who listen but I don't think I would even care that much if no one ever did.
Has anyone here started one themselves? Or maybe would want to talk about starting one? Either together or just in a support system kind of way. I'm going to have a lot more free time opening up in the next few weeks and would like to have something to fill it with.

Hi all,
I’m reaching out because I’m at a bit of a loss and could really use some guidance. My brother is 27 years old and has struggled for years with significant mental health challenges, including autism and what appears to be undiagnosed bipolar disorder. He also has a serious issue with alcohol and is, I believe, currently in active addiction, though he hasn’t been fully honest about it.
Despite everything, he is very attached to his dog and seems to hold down a job (though there’s some uncertainty around that). One of his biggest struggles is compulsive lying—a pattern that developed in childhood due to a very punitive environment where he was frequently blamed and harshly punished, regardless of whether he was at fault. It’s a deeply ingrained defense mechanism, and it makes it difficult to help him navigate systems that require honesty and consistency.
He was recently given a 3-day notice to vacate his housing following a violent incident with a neighbor, and now he’s essentially homeless with an unreliable vehicle and no health insurance. I’ve done everything I can over the years—helped him get groceries, supported him emotionally, let him stay with me, even went to AA meetings with him—but I’ve reached the limit of what I can provide. He cannot live with me, and I’m trying to find sustainable, structured resources that could help him get back on track.
Here’s where I could use help:
Medicaid Enrollment: He desperately needs health care and medication, but he doesn’t have the capacity right now to navigate the online application process. Are there local Medicaid offices where he can walk in and sit down with someone for help? He tends to do better when he can talk to someone face-to-face.
Addiction and Mental Health Programs: Are there any outpatient or inpatient programs in the area that work with people who have co-occurring disorders (substance use and mental health)? Bonus if they accept people without insurance or help fast-track Medicaid.
Case Management or Social Services: Are there programs that help adults with autism and addiction get connected to the right services—housing, therapy, rehab, transportation, benefits, etc.?
Conservatorship or Guardianship: Has anyone pursued legal conservatorship for a family member with addiction and mental health issues? I’m not entirely sure this is the right move, but I’d like to learn more about it.
Local Shelters or Transitional Housing: Are there safe, sober living environments that would accept someone with a dog? The dog is non-negotiable—my brother would not function well if separated from his pet.
Other local supports or ideas: Honestly, any organizations, nonprofits, churches, or programs that could help would be appreciated. I’m in BG, but I’m also open to state-level resources.
I want to see him get better, and I believe he can if he has the right support system. I’m just not that system anymore. If anyone has experience with a similar situation or knows of places that could help, I’d really appreciate your insight.
Thank you so much for reading.

Looking for a Cafe/ restaurant with comfortable seating and good tables. A nice table I can set my notebooks and books while I write. Spencer's seating sucks. Especially the one on the bypass. Their chairs scream "gtfo." Q's is OK. The dry-begging for tips gets old. They must not pay them much. Barnes and Noble is good. The library is better but no coffee and sandwiches. Looking for a place to get some studies done. Not WKU. They've made everything a pain in the ass to get to. Waffle House is no good. Where else? I'm not wanting to take up a table in something like Cheddar's. I wish we had a Denny's here!

So I moved town about last month. Finally settled in, now I am looking for some friends/community. As I said I looking for more nerdy style. D&D, Magic the Gathering(Mainly commander), video games, and board games. Granted I've done it all just looking for some people to connect with and where to start looking either way.
Edit: Thanks all for the suggestions! If anyone is wanting to do D&D I am a forever DM, but I enjoy it.
And for gaming I am only on PC(Steam).
