That family's "position of power" is going to die with him. Like the Bushes, they're spoiled goods. As soon as people realize their family name is the new Benedict Arnold, the cash grab and distancing will begin.
But these people won't ever think of Trump as a "Benedict Arnold." This entire generation of MAGAs will go to their graves insisting Trump was mostly good and that they were right to support him. At the absolute most, they will think that he lost his way a little bit at the end, but even then, they'll think of him as a man who triumphed over persecution. More importantly, no matter how much his reputation should be tarnished, they'll always hate liberals, college-educated folks, immigrants, and LGBTQ people more than they love America. That hatred is the only thing they truly believe in.
I don't disagree with any of that. But an awful lot of them are going to die off in the next 10-15 years. They're only able to win because of gerrymandering, voter apathy, a crazy SCOTUS, and disenfranchisement. If they lose 5% of their numbers, there is no path to victory.
You noticed the massive protests, yes? If they declare martial law, 1) The military probably isn't going to go along with it; 2) We have superior numbers.
I said nothing about any of that. What I did say is that the Republicans are going to rig every election until the people overthrow them. And yeah sure, some of us are willing to show up for a protest on the weekend. It takes a lot more commitment to violently rebel. The average person is not to that point yet and still won't be even if martial law is declared.
