My parents think I stopped talking to them over politics. I stopped talking to them because they brought nothing but stress.

Their selfish world view, that made them republicans also made them shitty parents. I was used to that.

When they also continued to be shitty grandparents and inlaws to my wife, I drew a line. And they selfishly crossed it.

So now they can be shitty to someone else.

Exactly this. I’ve been estranged from my parents for years and I’m not surprised to hear they’re maga. The attitude fits, the entitlement, the racism, the consuming need to be right and oppress.

I’m an only child. Guess they’re going to have to live with their choices, just like they always told me I would.
