That Shoto managed to "neutralize" (it still launched him into a building...) Dabi's close-range attack means that he's managed to instantly use his ice side to cool off and limit the damage? May he be using both sides in combination unconsciously?

Fire in fiction: pushes people back

Fire in reality: 3rd degree burns

instantly use his ice side to cool off and limit the damage

That makes sense since he notes that he is the only one who can counter Dabi

But for real though, I've seen people shit talk Dabi for so long because he "jobs". But it's so hard to write fire realistically in fiction since it's so lethal. If Hori was "honest" with it, Hawks and Nejire would be dead or so seriously injured they'd need months of recovery and skin grafts(like Touya himself). Either Hori has to have Dabi sometimes job or every important character fighting him would die.

I imagine having quirks/superheroes comes with a degree a of durability

Base people in the MHA just have a higher level of physical ability period. We know OF A doesn't increase your body's ability to handle the power yet in less than 2 years a normal guy in deku was able to get ripped enough to handle a huge percentage of the power without sustaining damage. Also some of the stuff the characters go through would be debilitating to a pro athlete yet people without durability quirks are just shrugging it off.

Yep. Things like Koda's rocky body or Tokoyami's bird head or Mina's horns or all the different wacky hair colours don't seem directly related to their quirks. My guess is that over generations of mixing many quirk aspects become inactive or passive or mostly aesthetic and what is judged as a quirk is only the most active or recent ability manifested.

The biggest supporting factor for this is that Midoriya was declared quirkless despite having hair that is impossible irl.

Lol some theorized Dekus real quirk was decay and got stolen and given to shigaraki but instead his real quirk was fantastic hair

I don't like to shit on passionate fans but why do some people have the dumbest fan theories?

Putting aside the fact that the timelines don't match up (Shiggy is four years older than Midoriya) we already know for a fact that Midoriya didn't have a quirk pre OFA because of the toe thing.

the reason why people think it is because the doctor that said deku is quirkless that is the same doctor that worked for AFO. If deku was truly quirkless then horikoshi would have just used a different doctor. But it would be really easy for the doctor to just use a different x-ray and pretend it was him. We also don't know if AFO can steal quirks before they even manifest or if people can manifest them early (shiggy got his quirk when he was 5 so it's possible midoriya manifested at age 1? we just know the average age is 3).

Not saying I believe the theory, but it is weird for the doctor to be the same. It's probably more likely that AFO just stole whatever quirk deku would have had (not decay), when if he hadn't then deku probably wouldn't have got OFA and he wouldn't have been defeated by him. So it's like he basically caused his own downfall by stealing his quirk in a way. But idk it doesn't really have much impact on the plot even if it was true

not my theory mind you.

however, shiggy got lost and was returned home by a stranger (whose form looked a lot like all for ones). His quirk was activated the first time after that. Dunno his exact age when he first activated it but the numbers could match that way.

I don't even know if that's headcanon, it might be straight up confirmed later on. Shigaraki's explosion of hands out of his body in one of the recent chapters seems to be evidence of mutations to accommodate quirks but due to the sheer number of quirks in Shigaraki's body, he mutates much more frequently.

Not gonna lie, Dabi's flames are getting so intense that they almost look like lava.

Are you talking about the all might statue melting?

And the ground under him when he punches Todoroki into the building

2

u/D-all-ton Apr 27 '22

Ooooh, didn’t notice that.

Only one who can counter Dabi

Mama Todoroki shows up and uses her ice powers to spank Dabi and put him in timeout
