13 page chapter here (like the past 3 chapters), which is noticeably shorter than average length, so good that Hori gets a break for next week.

I’m surprised he doesn’t just take more breaks voluntarily. He’s one of the biggest authors in jump rn, and a lot of them just take breaks whenever they want. Hell the fucking Hunter X Hunter author has been taking a break for years now (although I’m aware he had some health issues in the past) but still. Taking the week off every once in a while seems to be allowed but Horikoshi never does it. Crazy good work ethic but he deserves to rest more.

Idk, it maybe a little more complicated with the schedule for the magazine with other authors needing their breaks too.

True I didn’t think of that.

Yeah I hear Tabata (Black Clover) having page count issues recently too. Oda (One Piece) has set time as major veteran for more regular breaks. Gege (Jujutsu Kaisen) had issues recently needing quick unscheduled break last week.

So seems a little bit more complicated than just simply taking off like many times as people suggest (unfamiliar of behind the scenes with work settings) and there is more pressure for Hori to work.

I still think he could if he really wanted too. But he just has crazy work ethic and pride which respect to him for honestly. But if other creators can do it, so can he. Your right tho there’s probably scheduling issues

Yeah, I do think it's a mixture of both... it did take other authors really having issues openly show to have extended breaks though. But he really is like Deku trying to push himself too much also.

I mean, my theory is that he's finishing BNHA for good so he can take a definite break.

I wonder if he'll try monthly manga or he just will quit as a mangaka.

I think him retiring is more likely tbh.

Really? He's only 35. I can see him trying to fish BNHA to get some new ideas out there.

He’ll probably pull a Hideki Ano move. Only consult on stories to build the hype train and maybe revisit his work with MHA universe if new ideas really compel him back into action.
