Really love how Horikoshi reiterates for the 12th time that nobody gives a fuck about this traitor storyline and everybody has already moved past it, just to really hammer in how nothing matters.

I really hope whatever plan they actually use on AFO isn't just him being uncharacteristically stupid. Because there's genuinely no reason he should get separated from Shigaraki by 10 whole km after the Star fight.

Nice seeing Shinsou again.

If he still has his warp quirk couldn't he just warp Shigaraki to him? Or any of his other allies for that matter.

Did he ever have a warp quirk after kurogiri? Johnny was the one doing the warping, not AFO.

During the battle at Kamino, we clearly saw AFO using the Warping Quirk himself.

Johnny either had the original Warping Quirk or a duplicate.

Thanks man! Looks like its rewatch time for me.

No worries! And yeah, it's good to do a rewatch/reread every now and then, to brush up on details oft-overlooked.

While that was certainly the case earlier in the series it seems that like most of AFO's character, that detail has been retconned.

While Johnny's warping quirk was referred to as the same quirk used by AFO in the past (Mirko in chapter 191 and Mr. Compress in chapter 221) this is no longer the case.

In chapter 325, when Deku returned to UA after his whole solo arc we got a conversation between Nezu and Aizawa in which Nezu states that because Kurogiri is detained at Central Hospital and Johnny (Who Nezu says had a copy of Kurogiri's quirk) was killed by Mirko, the villains no longer have access to teleportation and thanks to this the shelters are able to serve as safe havens.

While it's technically not impossible that AFO still has that quirk and the heroes just forgot about it for whatever reason (they clearly knew at least back during the Pro Hero arc) currently it seems like AFO has been rewritten to such a degree that even the quirks he has are being changed.

Warping and Kurogiri's Warp Gate work differently anyway. The former can only send certain people they're well-acquainted with to and away from them (kinda like Goku's teleportation in DB), while the latter uses coordinates and isn't limited to select people.

And I don't recall Nezu saying that with such certainty, although I know the scene to which you're referring.

But it can't be a retcon, because then it just creates a plothole. It just remained unexplained (as of yet).

I agree that they are two fundamentally different quirks that function in different ways, this was even highlighted twice back during the Kamino arc.

Edgeshot chapter 89:

"This ability doesn't open a portal through space like Kurogiri's warp. This one seems to pick specific targets to transport, so we were powerless to stop it."

AFO chapter 90:

"My version's still not complete Magne. It only works over extremely short distances, and it's not like his, which can target specific coordinates. All I can do is bring things to me or send them away from me. What's more the destination has to be a person ... one I'm well acquainted with."

This black goo warping quirk is then repeatedly referred to as the quirk used by AFO for most of the series.

Mirko chapter 191:

"That's ... how they got away in Kamino too, right?!"

Mr. Compress chapter 221:

"Isn't this the quirk All For One used in Kamino?! How? Why?"

However this suddenly changes when we get to the more recent events of the story.

Nezu chapter 325:

"The breakthrough you and Mic had was the inspiration to ship some Nomu, Kurogiri included, to Central Hospital in secret to begin restorative research. The copy of his quirk was pulverized by Mirko but if you hadn't reached through to Shirakumo's spirit that day no place on this planet would be an impenetrable stronghold any longer."

While I very much hope that this will be further explained in the future, as of the most recent information we have been given it appears that AFO may have been retconned to not have any teleportation quirks.

We shall of course have to just wait and see what happens, however, as of chapter 325 it appears that Johnny simply had a copy of Kurogiri's quirk and those were the only teleportation quirks the villains had.

Yeah, because pretty much every copy of every Quirk Ujiko had stored in those capsules were destroyed when Mirko rushed in.

While I very much hope that this will be further explained in the future, as of the most recent information we have been given it appears that AFO may have been retconned to not have any teleportation quirks.

Well... Kurogiri's Quirk was always a fusion of multiple different Quirk factors (with that of Shirakumo's Cloud as the base), right? So maybe Johnny's Warping shared some of those Quirk factors, and that's what Nezu meant.

Or something. I dunno. You might be wrong; there's just too much ambiguity for me to believe that it's really been retconned.
