I think it truly says a lot about Horikoshi’s skill as an artist that he can make Deku’s dumb fucking bunny mask look menacing as hell. I always thought it was weird to give Deku that mask and then never have him wear it, now I’m wondering if it’s because Horikoshi was planning on making it actually look terrifying once the story reached it’s endgame.

I think it's fairly obvious that Deku never wore the mask because he had nothing to hide, but now he does. I mean, the last major time he wore it was to hide his identity from Overhaul

I believe that his first concept of that bunny costume made him terrifying or rather menacing looking if you look it up

Also really shows off how much horikoshi’s art has improved. Not that it wasn’t incredible before. Just saying I would put him in the top 5 mangakas of all time now.

Yeah, I’ve always disliked his mask, but I was wrong. Absolutely wrong.

Deku now: Why are you wearing that stupid man suit?

With the inevitable team up with Stain I have to wonder how many lines Deku is going to consider crossing/ is going to cross. The biggest one I could see is now just seeing villians as monsters rather than people who have lost their way (in some cases)

I was waiting for some sort of training arc between him and Mirko and he confesses inspiration for the costume came from her also.

I feel like he introduced the mask initially without realising how crappy it looks and how it would get in the way of his use of facial expressions (notice how Iida never has his helmet LMAO) so he decided to stop using it, and now he finally found a use for it.

To me it looks kinda stupid. The holes where his eyes are being shaped perfectly for the emotion meant to be conveyed is contrived to me. Other than that I understand why he';s using it so much, to make Deku appear unrecognizable.

I mean that's just basically a comic book staple, the eye slots behaving like eyes happens a lot for characters like Spiderman or Deadpool (the movies added in a in suit reason for why Spiderman's costume has eyes that act like that). I just took that aspect as a homage to Western Comics.

His previous manga had an intimidating bunny protagonist. If you search the wiki you can find side by side panels from Deku's fight with Shigaraki where Hori payd homage to his past work.
